ez-pz lemon squeezy, keyboard backlight starts auto on system start again. :)

Modern linux isnt hard to learn at all. I've got my mom and 1 of here sisters running it and I'm working with her husband (aunts) now, I can put it on their pcs and the exact same on their imac so they can run all their hardware together now. Funniest part is , now that they understand how to operate linux none will go back and use apple OR m$ either one. Really, I think most users just want it to work. Also, I lock them into longterm very very stable systems with no updates unless absolutely necessary. That way it never changes on them. Nice all are well over 70 they like that whichever system they sit down at it always looks and works the same. And really, FB, email and firefox all work exactly the same. Another ++ is that theres no anti virus crap updating and screwing things up for them. I'm showing my neighbor (also old guy) how to use it now, he's leery, but doesnt want to pay to upgrade from XP. The little kids are the easiest converts.

I'm trying to convert a little church school to linux completely. The teachers are being difficult but the principal and secretaries and parents are game. (saves the school about $12,000 per year in licensing)

There's only a little blood flowing tho, so it's ok.

I've tried all the major flavors of linux and found Mint the easiest in everyday type work. Servers get Debian Stable tho. Mint is bedrock based on Debian.

I would start out with just a mega PC setup, but may move to a server setup later.....all depends on what I can afford; though staying small and simple may be the better option.

Cy, if I remember correctly from several yeas ago, Sharpy is not a regular cat, right? I seem to recall some pics you posted and it is a bit larger than a normal cat and has relatively long and pointed ears?

Yep, he's about 17 lbs now. I had him in the truck a while back and a guy in Amarillo claimed he was at least 1/8 bobcat maybe as much as 1/4. That could be trucker bullshit tho, I dont see it myself.

he was 18-19 lbs this last winter, but I figure that's winter fat and normal. He'll be 5 years old this August 2nd
why would you need a server? I dont bother at home with one. Especially when Samba is so easy now. (Samba lets you network and read windows)

A server based system is a desire from long ago.....I have a lot of study work to do concerning Linux to determine just what I can do with it....could be I would only want a second PC I would use for mass storage and backup. At this point, I really don't know just what configuration would be best for what I want or need. I am finding my needs are diminishing rather than growing. One thing I probably will not change is my strong desire for speed and relative simplicity. My days of continually messing with PC is over; however, I do not mind spending some time to get a fast and stable system that does not require constant tinkering.
