That's a good thing. I think the last time I saw a prediction it could have prolly brought you some more wetness.

It's been a few days without any substantial precipitation here. Things are starting to get dusty again. The garden doesn't know what to think as we've decided not to do anymore watering. The plants have for the most part done all they are going to do.

Maybe it is the years of inplace composting I have done and the addition of all the organic fertilizer the past 3.5 years.

Sounds like a possible reason, Thore.

I wouldn't think that one individual can solely be responsible. It may be one of the cyclical weather phenomenon that so confounds us.

They are rough at my place. I've two bug lights, 5 tiki torches, and two citronella candles going. We still get bit, a lot. I'm going to look into one of the propane rigs. I really am grasping at straws at this point.

Not to bad here yet, though I have noticed them for the first time this year....I empty my birdbath every three to four days to insure it provides no breeding....same thing with my outside dog water buckets.

I've kept a close eye on the bird baths and anything else that would hold enough water for a breeding area. I'm surrounded by swamp and a small creek. My only choice is to put out more larvaecide and stay the course with the citronella.

Most permanent or semi-permanent water bodies are stocked with fish that only eat mosquito larvae....Gambushia. We breed and raise these fish in our mosquito control division at the City.

The key word is "city". I'm in the sticks. I'm lucky if they even spray for mosquitoes out here. Judging from my last statement, I have yet to see on of the trucks roll through. The swamp concerns me more than the creek. The stagnant water is the preferred breeding grounds.

Sorry....but we had one of the most progressive mosquito control operations while under my direction.....as noted by special awards and acknowledgements from the Southeastern Mosquito Control Association...Something I was rather proud of. The operation was funded through the stormwater management utility that I implemented in 1988.

We would give the fish to county folks if they asked.....our county has no mosquito services.
