I live in a small community with few contractors/employers so you have to fight for every opening that presents itself. Its either getting a job where i live or drive to the nearest bigger town which mean a total of an hours drive each day. Its a simple store job with various things to do each day.

 

Ever considered being a santa Claus at a nearby mall there, Thore.

unfortunately I hate school. I never could get into it. I tried....multiple times. Its something about the experience that doesnt sit well with me. Perhaps its the whole books thing. I have never been much of a reader. Perhaps its how fucking long it takes to get a damn degree in something. Perhaps its all algebras fault Either way, school was/is not for me. So I will work my life away at sub par jobs in misery for the duration.

 

Nope....don't like kids.....could barely stand my own!

 

I am a poor reader also and had trouble this heavy reading courses such as English, Humanities, etc. But I like math and science....so engineering was a good and natural choice for me. About the age of 14 I had to chose between medicine and engineering. I hate memorization and love problem solving...so I went into engineering. I retain my State Engineering license to this day.

sounds like something similair i experienced when i Went too college. My experience was that i could never get into the Reading of the many books you had to read.

 

im not a poor reader, it just bores the shit outta me. I wanted to get a degree in psychology. I have a couple semesters under my belt but I just have no desire to continue with schooling. One of my prerequisites is that I must pass algebra since I never did in school. I just cant wrap my head around it though. Once the letters and parenthesis an all the other shit that isnt numbers gets tossed in, my mind wanders.

I have reading disorders in my family....my father was the same way...the only way he got thru high school was there was a retired teacher living next door and she would read his assignments to him. I have a cousin with the same problem. I don't think my problem is as severe as theirs, but I entered the University of Florida as a freshman in the top 5% of the class in fall of 1968. We were required to take a series of tests before entering, of those were reading speed and reading comprehension. I was 3 percentile in speed and 96 percentile in comprehension....I am a very slow reader as I must stop and think about what I am reading or I don't remember a thing about it. So having to read 5 books a week along with all the other homework and studying was something I just could not do. I almost flunked out before I got out of those lower courses and got into the engineering courses...I did well in the engineering courses.

 

Phew i was worried it looked like i was just about too pass a kidney stone. And yes i havent slept in a milion years its part of my genetics.

 

sorry then its nothing similair to what i thought it was. I have never had any reading disorders. Just a disorder that if its a subject i dont care about i just shut it out regardless how much i study about it.

yuck i could never bring myself to get together on high school reunion i couldnt stand the class mates and the feeling was mutual. It would just be too awkward bringing all that crap back up.
