I think I'd feel the same way.

 

It was fascinating but spooky.

Later on we pulled off the highway and stopped on a plain. It was pitch black and the night sky was unbelievable. I haven't seen the Milky Way stretch from horizon to horizon since I lived in Colorado 22 years ago.

 

THAT is a beautiful sight!!

 

Makes me wanna see the movie Grand Canyon again, even thought that movie wasn't about the GC, except at the end.

 

Isn't it though? It's absolutely breathtaking.

I've never seen the movie. Any good?

I'm back.

Grand Canyon begins with Kevin Kline's BMW breaking down at night in a gang neighborhood. Danny Glover finally arrives in a tow truck and scares away the gangbangers that have stopped and are just about to rob Kline and maybe kill him. Kline is so grateful he has to do something for Glover, an urban guy, to thank him. The only thing Glover accepts is breakfast. But they keep meeting up, as do their families and friends, by coincidence or on purpose. It goes on from there. It's a very cool story progression. Lawrence Kasdan wrote it based on a personal incident: He started walking across the street and a stranger, a lady in a cap, pulls him back by the collar just as he's about to be hit by a bus. It's based on what would happen if that lady weren't there, and the fact that he could never find her to thank her.

 

The cast is perfect for the film...

Oh wait, I have seen that movie, or most of it. And you're right, it was a really good flick.

 

That's a hell of a cast.

 

I try to see it once every couple years. One of my top 20.

 

I'm just not into TV and movies anymore. Plenty of good stuff I'm missing, no doubt, but I just fell out of the habit of watching.

 

I simply can't afford to go to movies (or anywhere else) anymore.

 

Going out is overrated.

Most movies don't require a large screen to enjoy anyway. At least the really good ones.

 

I like the big screen. I always have.

 

If my sister hadn't covered travel and accommodations there's no way I could have gone to the canyon. Trips like that just aren't in my budget.
