Even if we in northern america and certain parts of northern europé finds Hockey to be incredibly funny too Watch, we do have to realise that on a global scale its a sport with few followers. It simply isnt a sport that an average brittish sportfanatic cares about so its not that surprising that Billy shruggs his shoulders about Wayne Gretzky.

 

We don't give a shit about American football, basketball or baseball so imagine how much of a look-in Hockey gets.

All those sports (combined) rarely even get a single column in 10 pages of sport in the newspapers here.

However I still can't see why that deserved the snide 'go away' attitude.

American sports fans know very well who Mark Messier is. Messier and Gretzky are two of the greatest athletes of all time. I may not appreciate or particularly enjoy watching soccer or whatever it is called over the pond, but I know the great teams and the great players, past and present. Geepers.
