So Harry's bangin her now.

 

Lets see. They have a secret dinner, that conveniently gets leaked to the press. Then suddenly they do the "oh, we're just friends bit" followed by plenty of supposed candid photo ops of their "dates". It's rather textbook PR relationship stuff. It's pretty much a carbon copy of the playbook that got used with him and Taylor Swift this time last year. Oh, and Kendall's a Kardashian, and they don't do anything without it being for the advancement of their brand. And that's not even taking into account all the rumors about Harry not being into girls (that would tend to fall under the category of "where there's smoke there's fire").

 

I prefer to think of myself as skeptical. Though I guess I could just take what people feed me at face value without bothering to look deeper.

And I wasn't countering one rumor with another. I was pointing out typical steps for setting up a PR relationship and how they're being followed step by step in this case, as well as in the Taylor Swift case. Step one is to float it out there and see how people react (Nina Dobrev and Derek Hough tried it and people yawned so it was quickly scuttled). Step two is to coyly deny it by claiming you're just friends all while being seen and reported out on "dates" and such. Step three is to conveniently have cameras waiting as you exit the same hotel to make sure everyone knows and draws the conclusions you want them to draw (because cameramen always hang out outside hotels in the wee hours of the morning hoping to catch celebrities making the walk of shame). Step four is to finally go public and watch your names grace every gossip blog and magazine known to man for months straight. It's really not a difficult formula to spot, especially when both parties have something to gain by such things (One Direction just happens to have a new CD out that could use some promoting for the holiday season and Kendall is a Kardashian, who as I pointed out are never averse to do stuff for PR reasons).

 

Eh, that bit was just kinda tacked on at the end as an addition rather than part of the actual point. And it actually gives a giant reason for him engaging PR "romances" to begin with. One of the biggest reasons those things generally occur is to make them appear heterosexual to people on the outside. You think Seacrest or Tom Cruise or all the other celebs supposedly buried deep in the glass closet go through all that trouble just to goose a little extra PR? They, and the people handling them, think that if they come out then people won't want to see their movies or buy their products or whatever, so they line up a woman to date until they feel they've gotten all they can out of it and cut the cord until someone decides it's about time they got another girlfriend. Women do it as well, though there isn't nearly the stigma with a woman being a lesbian (or them hedging and calling themselves bi) so they don't have as many people chirping in their ear about how much they have to lose by coming out.
