    I was just outside and noticed the quarter moon....down here, it is almost horizontal and I was wondering if at higher latitudes if a quarter moon appears rotated... i.e. one end of the moon is noticeably lower than the other.

    I saw the moon just a couple minutes ago when I took the dogs out. I didn't look close enough to notice a slant, but it's definitely bowl-shaped right now.

    The moon cycles through phases just like the sun. These phases are quite shorter and may result in a small window in which you actually see it. I may be wrong but, the moon might be in a waning crescent phase.
