    All the stuff after the .php? is called the query string. And, it's divided into key/value pairs where each one starts with an ampersand. So the first one...

    t=1123062
    ...tells showthread.php script to find thread (t) number 1123062. The next part tells it go directly to page 3090 instead of the first page. Then the last part that it's adding is telling it to go directly to a particular post (the number is a total number that is stored in the database not the post number within this thread). I think "posted=1" essentially means that you posted it (the 1 stands for true).

    As for why it's added, I think the default behavior after posting is to focus on what you just posted. So, if you then just reload the page it will bring you back to that specific post.

    Not sure of the best solution off hand. Maybe a little script could be made that always focuses the last post on the page?
