I have even more sympathy for Inuk up there in the winter than I did before, if that is possible.

 

But he knows what to look forward to every year. It's the Arctic after all.

Great Lakes winters are unpredictable year after year and can be incredibly brutal by even the worst standards.

 

This is the most brutal winter I can remember in this area. It's been colder, and we've had bigger snow storms. But the snow and the cold together are constant this year. Just unbelievable.

 

Are your moving plans still on schedule?

 

To bad we can't send some of our warm air over to you guys. This has been one of the warmer winter in recent memory. I haven't even had to wear long sleeves yet.

 

You guys out west are in such a drought -- I feel bad for you.

 

A number of Chicago winters are burned into my memories, but I can't ever recall one quite like the one y'all are having this year. It's usually one or the other. Makes me shiver just thinking about it.

Yes, just need to do the paperwork on the lease. We're going to start the packing process here this week coming week, arrange for a mover and whatnot. We should be in our new digs on or around the 1st of March.

 

I'm watching Ocean's 11. I picked it up over an hour into the movie. I've GOT to see this series as a complete whole! Keep seeing bits and pieces.

The temps have little to do with the drought as they are well within average. It's the lack of snow in the Colorado Rockies and the California Sierras that have the greatest impact on the ridiculous megaopolis cities in the desert. There's no rational reason for their existence, but water planners and politicians like Barry Goldwater back in the 50s thought conquering the deserts was a good idea. Most of them realized long after it was too late that their policies were stupid. But, it's too late to turn back now.

Thanks. There's a few tricky logistics involved (mainly in getting my folks from point A to point B) but they shouldn't be an issue.

 

Man, I completely missed the fact that I passed 4K posts. I'm almost at 20K thanks though, that's awesome.

They're more strict about water usage the farther north you go in AZ, which does seem a bit odd.

They don't benefit from CAP up north. They're strictly reliant on what nature provides locally.

 

That's true, I forgot about that. Oh, I forgot to mention that a bunch of members from the 1980 Olympic hockey team were at the Coyotes game last night. It was absolutely packed.
