Man, I wish I could remember. I do remember that it was a modified model that ended in 335.....I want to say SS-335, but I am not sure. I sold a 1955 Les Paul solid body with twin pickups to help pay for that guitar....Man, would I love to have that Les Paul back.....I had no idea at the time what the value of that guitar would rise to.

I sold all my guitars and stuff in '68 and '69 so I could stay in school and retain my student draft deferment......

Was it similar to this? This is an ES-355...

Very similar to that.....mine had a special gysmo at the bridge to change the string tension (it was unusual because its lever did not go in and out from the guitar face, but rather traveled up and down parallel to the guitar face. My Les Paul had one of those and I really liked it.

Guitar players really love to collect. Must be a cool hobby, if you can afford it.

Especially if they have some sort of historical significance. Hendrix gave Frank Zappa one of the guitars he lit on fire and Dweezil Zappa rebuilt it to playing condition. I bet that's worth a pretty penny, not that he'd ever part with it.

I don't think I have ever seen one since......they were a bit heavy and tended mute the sound resonance a bit, but that did not bother me as I preferred the more bluesy tone.....I even used flat wound strings rather than round wound strings to further take the twang out of the sound.

That is the traditional type, Cold. You push that towards and away from the guitar face to change the pitch. The one I had used scissor gears (which you could not see as they where covered by a protection plate to prevent getting the skin on your forearm pinched).

A lot of the people I jammed with at our local music store back then went on to become just a bit famous......like Tommy Petty (Tom, but I knew him as Tommy as we started kindergarten together.....) and at least one of the Eagles....can't recall his name now..:?...would have to look it up.

Thore, you should combine your acoustic and engineering knowledge and make violins. :)

Cool idea. Takes years of practice to make a quality acoustic instrument.

    Are you working tonight?
