    Color can sometimes take away from the object or person being photographed. Also, sometimes, color can make a photo boring because you're focusing more on the color layout than the subject. For example, the three photos in color are extremely vibrant (probably thanks to Adobe Lightroom). However, her red lips and hat are what draws the eye, and the blues and greens of the background vividly contrasts itself against her. That's stripped away in black and white. The focus is on her, her curves, her hair, and even her nipples. I agree it's not artsy exactly, but it is stylized to highlight her in a very different way than the color shots.

    Plus, whoever did these shots knows their strength. The lighting and shadows are harsh and I doubt a reflector was used at all. His or her style works well with black and white.
