As much as I like her and believe she has a point, i'm just sick of sanctimonious celebs pushing other people's agenda as spokespersons in general. Celebs (and the UN) have real short memories, it wasn't that long ago that Emma and others were jumping all over the #bringbackourgirls shit on social media and thus giving themselves a big handful of PR, yet months later how many are speaking out against Boko Harem for strapping explosives to the same missing girls and detonating them in crowded markets killing dozens? That would be a big fucking zero. Not that it would make a difference, they would just claim it's all political desperation down to social injustice and poverty rather than a bunch of Islamic fundamentalists enforcing the strict literal interpretation of the Koran and who don't even give a shit about being poor.

 

Yeah, that's why so many of the best directors on earth want to work with her, and the ones who have speak glowingly of her.

 

I do not see how a comparison of the aforementioned actors with Emma in regards to the point in their careers can work. Emma doesn't have the mileage yet, by far so the HeforShe thing seems to be a bigger issue for her than the projects for the other actors were for them. Frankly, it paints her as someone boring, so far very straight and proper and just not that ... interesting. People are more interesting with some edge to them. Take any of the names you mentioned, it feels as if they "came around" after some bumpy road in their life.

Just the impression about stardom of a random guy though.

 

Emma genuinely seems interested in using her celebrity to support causes she believes in. Not just to establish an identity outside of the roles she plays.

The fact of the matter is she's getting all the offers she wants, and she's choosing roles as she pleases and doing the work she wants to do. The most respected directors in the world are happy to work with her. She's being approached by publishers to produce and star in movie adaptations of their upcoming books. If this is someone who's undermined her effectiveness as an actress, I'd say more actors should try being undermined. It seems an enviable state.

Alright, that is true. Sorry. But then, if you bring those names into the ring., it starts to matter. And I think it's what I had in mind before, at least subconsciously. Age and stage in career matters, because "life experience". So in general your reply is true, as many celebrities seem to do these things on the sidelines, but want to use it for their image nonetheless. And they come back after that. So it's some kind of game between being known for supporting the cause "WorldPeace4eva" and that role you once had and were great in. But surely it's a wild mix of how people get that message and engagement known out there and then to saddle back onto the usual acting stick or whatever it is they do.

I suppose you have the best intentions at heart for her career but dude, you are reaching. That is too much fluff to buy that you have that kind of insight into her actual, um, business communications.

Anyway. Maybe it'll be a kickoff for the next Emma, with that kinda weird-ish molestation movie with Ethan Hawke and then the movie about something in Argentinia ("Colonia") coming up.

 

When you think about it though. Her voice will be heard far before our's. Actors and Actresses have more connective Authority with the people then most Government Officials. She is beautiful, smart, and considered by millions. Making her a powerful force in any field she pursues.
