This was my first reaction as well. Anyone remember when "New Coke" was introduced all those years ago?

I think it's a last gasp at increasing sales before the final nail in the coffin stops the publishing of the magazine.

If they are serious, though, I have one thing to say - J/K should do Playboy! :lol2:

Too much airbrushing used to be the problem. Then too much plastic surgery became the problem. In the age of advanced computer editing, too much photoshop has become the problem. Playboy should have gone more natural, not more clothing. I've seen drawings and paintings of women that look more realistic than the fake photos of fake women that Hef likes.

I like her quite a bit,but in the time before her centerfold she never struck me as playmate material,let alone PMOY status.

Give PB another year and it will go by the route of so many other men's magazines. It's a shame to see it die, but reality is the fact that it was killed by the internet. I, like many other long-time subscribers will not renew as they gave up on celebrity portfolios and the "oop's" picture sets they used to run at the end of the mag.

The website drops nudity and not only does the readership increase, but the readers' age decreased. What that tells me is that there's a lot of pussies afraid of pussy out there, and that's truly sad. Although I'm not surprised. There's so much misogyny directed at pop culture today (comments in Celeb Photos and CX supports the fact), as well as just base derision toward women in general, it's a wonder any publication can remain "relevant." And as far as I can see, there's no virtue in that. Playboy was an excellent, well rounded publication aimed at an intelligent customer base who appreciated the finer things in life. And then Maxim, Stuff and FHM came along and dumbed everything down. And that's the real tragedy of it all: The idiots won and we let 'em do it, and our culture has suffered for it.

I think this editorial by Filmdrunk makes a good point of how fucked up the whole situation is that they even compare themselves to hardcore while also having to operate in a world where so much casual surfing is done at work that NSFW has pussified huge chunks of the Internet.

tl;dr — They're becoming conventional. In doing so, it's stigmatizing the very thing that they claimed to celebrate for six decades — the naked female form. Instead, they've bowed to the pressure of idiotic corporate censors and their fears that anything their employees do will expose them to liability as well as the equally misguided if not fucking insane demands on online advertisers who will freak the fuck out if you don't put an asterisk in "fuck" and dare show a nipple, but have no problem with the technically softcore yet otherwise graphic depictions of sex we've come to expect in shit rags like Maxim and their dickhead big brothers (Playboy's new, real competitors), Esquire and GQ. Worse, it's the same fucking nonsense that we've come to expect from Instagram. The world's ideas about sex are now being pushed forward by a combination of puritanical and feminist assholes, lawyers, nerds who didn't get pussy until they became dotcom billionaires, and as lazard pointed out, those godless communist Chinese sons of whores.

We're fucked.

I swear to you that if they do, it will be someone who has already been in the magazine before. Somebody like Carmen Electra or Bai Ling. Yawn!

 

word on the street is,either the January or February issue will feature the last big celebrity nude pictorial before it goes non nude,Kris Kardashian wants Kim,Khloe,Kourtney,Kendall and Kylie to do one together, and Gigi Hadid will do it with them,because she's friends with Kendall,a super sized blockbuster!
