    Those photos are advertising the bra and panties. The first photo is showing the whole set, and the second is the bra in more detail.

    They're not doing a photoshoot of the model. The model is showcasing the underwear they're selling.


    Edit: To clarify it a bit. For whatever reason, they're offering the photos in a not-so high quality. Because of that, the second photo, while basically being a part of the first, offers more detail on the part that is shows. They could just provide UHQ version of the first photo and be done with it.

    The second photo does not provide any higher resolution than the first, it simply upscales. Showcasing the bra yes, but not at any higher res. Bit pointless really.

    No. It's the same pixel size, but it's not upscaled. It's a smaller area of the original, so it has higher fidelity.

    Edit: By original, I mean the source file, not the first picture

    I just loaded both pics into photoshop and upscaled the first so it was the same physical size as the second. The second appears to have slightly better detail than the first. So.. grr.. you are right. However I have seen countless examples of VS pictures where the cropped picture (the "second" one) looks blurred compared to the uncropped picture (the "first" one). So I assumed they were just upscaling, which caused the blurring. tbh I'm still not convinced that they aren't just upscaling in many cases.

    VS have some peculiar practices. Sometimes you will see two pictures which are identical in all respects apart from the colour of the lingerie/swimwear the model is wearing. Clearly these have been photoshopped to change the colour.
