Companies are tools used to do things with money. Holding companies like this allow that to be done anonymously.

The records show that Watson's company bought a very nice home in London. If it was purchased from a bank account, then public records would tie the address to the account, and that would make an A-list movie star's address public knowledge. The desire to avoid that is in no way illegitimate, and exactly what Watson's spokesperson stated was her reason for putting money into the company. There's absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing on Watson's part, and positive evidence to back her explanation.

The rest is just pathetic creeps who want to find a way to attack Emma Watson for being a feminist.

You know in America, women are equal. I often wondered why someone would stand up for feminism when there was already equality? If you've ever listened to a feminist speech or lecture, then you know that feminism is not about equality at all. I believe that is what spawned all the negativity. Modern day feminism is about women believing they are better than men.

What do Emma's alleged offshore bank accounts have to do with her being a "feminist icon", in your view? What point are you trying to make here?

If you hide your assets,IT IS ILLEGAL! How will the government know how much to tax you,if they dont know how much they are worth.
Think with your brain, not your dick.

Only if you don't pay your income tax in the first place. Every country has it's own taxation laws on interest or capitol gains. As an American earner and taxpayer there are no laws dictating that you must secure all your assets in American banking/investment institutions in perpetuity, which are subject to American tax laws. You can put your money wherever you want. It's your money.

well it's not that simple....yes it's your money but it was made off the resources of the country you are in....you were only able to have this success by being in the us as opposed to being in a third world country.

Drop us a line again when America has equal rates of pay and promotion for women. Then drop us a line again when America doesn't have huge swathes of entrenched misogynists (like yourself).

If you're not sick of waiting after all that time, drop us another line when victim blaming isn't still rife in sexual assault cases with female victims.

Ugh. I already feel embarrassed for getting drawn into this relentlessly circular argument.

From post above people don't seem to know the difference between tax evasion and tax dodging, not everyone putting there money in tax havens are putting it there for tax evasion..
I work with this shit daily and of the rich people 90% do it and i would do also...
If you rich tbh it's dumb to even not do it....and in Emma's case if people would actually read it it's a case of privacy wich i trully understand...

ooh and tax dodging is not illegal

her name was leaked so she had no choice but to admit it.......there isn't proof that she didn't dodge taxes......all ppl are doing is holding her under scrutiny because she has made herself a public activist....how can you talk about inequality when you perpetrate it.

Beg to differ: setting up secret foreign bank accounts into which one deposits large amounts of (presumably) un- or minimally-taxed assets for the sole purpose of hiding the assets with the result that income from said assets is not reported is quite illegal.

This is also precisely the nexus in the US between the so-called 1 percent and the rest of the 99 percent. Not only is the vast majority of wealth in the US concentrated among the very fewest people who are IMHO not remotely taxed as they should be, but by virtue of their wealth they are able to seek out and use -- legal or not -- investment opportunities that reduce their tax liability even further. It's trickle UP economics. It's also how bald-faced liars like Donald Trump are able to claim $100 million plus in charitable contributions to reduce the taxes (which by the way he refuses to disclose because it would be too boring for us to read) he may (oir may not) pay, without actually contributing a single dollar of his own actual income. Oh yes, and thanks to perhaps the most moronic SCOTUS ruling ever, those self same 1 percenters get to pour unlimited amounts of their sheltered assets into the US political system to perpetuate the vast and growing income inequalities under the ludicrous doctrine that such activities constitute free speech.

Here endeth the lesson (sorry) . . .
