strange how nice the world is treating her (i.e. the media, fans, sponsers) even though she unfortunately has been cheating for the last 10 years. I wonder if Serena had been in the same position would they have been so forgiving?

I would expect a poster who is named after sharapova to realize that she had not been cheating for 10 years. She had been taking a substance which was legal for 10 years. Meldonium was put on the banned list in January The test she failed was in January, the same month the substance was added to the banned substance list. So she was arguably cheating for a couple weeks, so she may or may not have even gotten a dose in the time period it had been illegal (i would doubt that though, because she probably would have brought that up by now. )

Not rally a Sharapova fan, just wanted to point that out.

Wrong. The drug wasn't on the list of banned substances and was probably just one of many substances being used by athletes to help them perform. There are all sorts of legal PEDs and if you don't think top athletes take advantage of them then you're clueless.

    Performing while white.

stop playing the race card and learn some facts.

she didn't break any rules but you have to understand they have found many of the russian atheletes using these drugs off label. wada isn't that big of an organization and is always a step behind atheletes. her whole situation is dodgy.

Not being specifically aware of Meldoniium, but having done work in the medical field, taking a drug off label, is extremely common. The term generic drug is what this is. Rather than taking advil you may take CVS brand Ibuprofen, its essentially the same thing, and because Meldonium is a Latvian drug, for any number of reasons the "official drug" may not be available in Russia.

WADA is a pretty big organization, The Council, or whatever it is they call it only 38 members, but they have multiple branches and representatives and employees in a pretty significant number of countries. They are a notoriously secretive organization but most estimates have the total membership up in the 500+ range. More than enough people that if you are going to ban a substance which has been legal, and a prescription drug utilized for medical reasons, you should probably be able to put most of the common names for the drug on the list, to not create this potential loophole, especially when you look at the fact that the drug had been on their watch list prior to being added to the banned list, which would give you time to reach out to your russian representative to say "Hey, we currently have this drug Meldonium on our watch list. Here is the chemical compound. Is there any similar drug to that in Russia?"

WADA is also currently funded by a number of governments (it used to be only funded by the Olympic Committee) so often times it takes on the personality of Western Europe and the US (not unlike any number of other international bodies), so when there is an Eastern European or American Drug which does the same thing, its often times has the view that those Russians and Germans are up to no good, and they ban their drug. Again WADA is notoriously secretive and doesn't release their science. So the reasoning for banning Meldonium, which seems to oxygenate blood, and increase blood flow, which a large number of other drugs do as well, isnt really public.

Once Again, I dont watch womens tennis, not really a Sharapova fan, just dislike the way WADA is run, and there seems to be alot of misinformation regarding the issue.

Point taken however we all know her reason for using the drug since the age of 17 due to a family history of diabetes is bullshit. This drug is typically used in patient's with heart disease and required a prescription from her doctor and it had to be declared to WADA by Maria with a valid reason as to why she was taking it. So it's not like picking up some whey protein or vitamin supplement from any food outlet.
My original point was not about the fact she has been cheating for 10 years, it questioning the morality and fairness of all the people welcoming her back with open arms (Russia even including her in this years Olympics). If Serena Williams had been in her exact situation i am pretty sure she would have been hung out to dry by everyone including Team USA

This is a question of fairness...

N.B i am a Sharapova fan but that does not stop me calling a spade a spade my friend. We all know she has been cheating for 10 years. WADA clearly has made a mistake and she benefitted from that

but in maria's case she had multiple warnings(the russian federation warned their atheletes to get off it fall 2015) and this drug was on the watchlist before it was banned.....maria cheated.

If that is true then it is a different story.Maybe she was not aware of the warnings?
