Perhaps a bit late for a end of the year survey but I'm bored so...

List out the best TV show of 2016. You can list out as many as you like as long as it's a 2016 show, or the 2016 season of a show.

    Here are mine:

    1. Daredevil season 2 - I absolutely loved S1 and this build up on it perfectly. Yeah, I guess it could have had a better villain, but it more than made up for it with great new characters and storytelling.

    2. Black Sails Season 3 - This is truly a slow burn show. I didn't appreciate it much in S1, but as the show progresses and the characters and the story comes into itself, I find that this is the world of pirates that I always wanted to see.

    3. Shameless season 7 - It truly amazes me how this show can be in it's 7th season and still be so good. I don't think I've ever come across a show that has lasted this long without sacrificing either storylines or continuity.

    4. The Girlfriend Experience season 1 - Not a show for everybody, but I thought interesting, truly new, and absolutely beautiful (cinematically).

    5. Westworld season 1 - I didn't think I would like it, but I did. I loved the thoughts and the ideas behind it and the somewhat confusing narrative which fell together in the end.

    Honorable mentions:

    1. Luck Cage - This would have been much higher on the list if they had not killed of Cottonmouth.

    2. Billions - A must watch.

    3. Vice Principles - Best comedy show of the year.

Westworld really disappointed me. Started off so strong, but a lot of cringeworthy dialogue and confounding plot developments soured it for me.

Top spot has to go to The Night Of, an HBO miniseries. It was, hands-down, the best-acted and most suspenseful show on TV this year. The Walking Dead gets runner-up.

    Mileages vary of course.
My list of top "full-fledging" tv series (not multi-episode TV films) in no particular order.

    Killjoys
Brought same warm and fuzzy feeling 'Firefly' did - with antics inherited from Whedon bein' much toned down. Despite goofs - i've got feeling of more or less solid storyline that frankly is rare in hollywoodyish 'syfy' genre.
Girl IS hot (of undecipherable to me - thus 'exotic' - heritage).

    Expanse.
Stunning visuals with more or less realism behind 'em - at last producers thought of consulting some educated people. As for storyline - it's cut and dumbed down from books (which were NOT David Brin to start with) but for TV show is still pretty solid.

    Banshee.
Nudity and reckless violence - '80s flicks turned to 11. If only Eliza really embraced that...

    Longmire
Non-"supehuman" (nor buffon) main character and Katee Sachoff's character as his second in command. Show is a bit worse than it was - but is still pretty good. Breath of fresh air compared to current usual 'police drama package'.

    Westworld.
Not LIKED it. But acknowledge it. And finale did tied some lose ends while redeeming other things that marred middle of the show. Cudos to Black Hat bein' way more than that - but still a trope...

"Guilty pleasure": "Shannara Chronicles" - only time i saw elvesses looking really hot.

I loved Dare Devil too! :D

I saw Stranger Things recently and that was great to binge.

It was much earlier in the year, but I loved House of Cards too.

Gordon Ramsay shows are always my guilty pleasure.

I look forward to Master Chef Canada too, don't know why. It's good so far this year, we'll see if the person I want to win wins next week.

I like this show Lucifer that is about the son of satan living as a normie.

Probably some more I'm forgetting from earlier in the year. :thinks2:

Westworld. I loved it. I can't quite explain why, but it was just really cool.

GoT. I appreciated that they weren't beholden to the books anymore and it was noticeable.

    Westworld - top notch

Travelers - interesting Canadian made sci-fi. Give it a shot, I really liked it.

Humans - Season 2. Still knocking it out the park

Killjoys and Dark Matter - Seasons 2. Solid sci-fi.

Orphan Black - winding up for the final season in 2017

Game of Thrones - stunning finale to Season 6, setting the scene for sheer epic over the last two seasons.

Lucifer - really tilting into the whole ideal in the second season, and having way too much fun doing it.

Partial list, because I still have some binging to do. In no particular order...

Lucifer - As Ares said, it's just a really fun show.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - The keep coming up with new ideas and I keep liking them. And I really like the cast. They're not pigeon holed into one role. Good writing has kept they're fates changing, and never predictable.

Rehab Addict - It's pretty much This Old House but with a woman, Nicole Curtis, in charge of the projects. She buys and renovates old homes in and around Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, and also Detroit, Michigan. Nicole Curtis is not just a pretty face (though she is beautiful), but is thoroughly involved in all aspects of the work. Episodes are 30 minutes, so it can take up to 6 episodes to complete a project.

COMPLETELY forgot about Mr. Robot. That's easily a top three show for me.

The Exorcist -- far and away the biggest surprise of the season. I would have bet anything that would have stunk, but it was incredibly good -- creepy, well done, thought provoking, scary... everything you could possibly have wanted and more. Spectacular show. It was absolutely wasted on network TV (Fox); hopefully it gets renewed onto basic cable (FX is Fox's basic outlet).

Looking forward to Humans season 2 starting in February here stateside...

I enjoyed Falling Water and Better Things in the late 2016 season, and echo the appreciation of Better Call Saul from earlier in the year.

Blindspot seemed like it had promise, but fizzled out quickly for me.
