The other sign is not that much better... "No tax breaks for billionaires". It's a nice sentiment but that's not how it works. Tax breaks apply to everyone... and Trump have the right to use each and every one of them just as two of them (and when we're at it... why only billionaires, why not millionaires as well?) and everyone else present at that protest. Meaning that the only way you can prevent Trump from using them is to remove them completely... which would hurt a whole lot of people.

He gave billionaires and millionaires something much better than tax breaks...he gave them cabinet posts, access, and power. Who needs silly tax breaks when you can change the laws and regulations.... He drained the swamp of those from the previous administration and expanded the swamp and filled it with incompetent, under-qualified people, many who have a conflict of interest and will benefit privately from the position. Let the croaking begin...

She is clearly talking about tax breaks specific for them when they hide income and programs are getting cut.

What does that have to do with someone holding up a sign saying "No tax break for billionaires"? As I said, everyone get to use tax breaks which include everyone at that protest.

Besides, don't fool yourself, billionaires and millionaires always had access and power. They could always force change in the laws and regulations. Only thing different now is that they do it openly instead of behind the scenes like they would with Clinton and like they had with every president since Jackson (with Lincoln and both Roosevelts being only possible exceptions).

As for filling administration with "incompetent, under-qualified people, many who have a conflict of interest and will benefit privately from the position"... how is that any different from any previous administration? Or from anywhere else in the world for that matter... when new administration get into power one of the first thing they do is to reward with government jobs all those who helped them get there and whose only qualification quite often is that they belong to the same party. Only thing that might be new is the amount of conflicts of interest but even that may be only because now everyone actively look for it.

billionaires and millionaires have always run this country, nothing has changed, JFK was a millionaire 60 years ago

besides that, how many congressmen and senators from BOTH parties went into office marginally well off and left as gazillionaires; how does that happen on $174,000 a year

It's written in stone: democrats write tax laws for the poor, republicans write tax laws for the rich, and the middle class gets a big fat foot up its ass; the poor are too poor to pay taxes; the rich don't receive "income" like your average bear; they get it in stock options; billings, etc. through corporations with a tax bill whittled down by accountants and lawyers, who are well paid, to 15%; the middle class, the guy walking home with the W-2 gets fucked up the ass, and pays 80% of the $$$3 trillion$$$ a year the IRS gloms in

IMO the poster/moderator knew this thread was going to be political, and as such it should have been posted in THE LOUNGE

Says the guy who threatened the sitting president's life in a thread posted on this forum. I wouldn't laugh if I was you either. Anybody could report that crude comment that to the secret service.

I think JFK can also count as billionaire when you adjust his wealth for inflation... or is very close to that status. Also, let us not forget that both Washington and Jefferson owned rather large plantations and their personal wealth would probably be in 100's of millions of todays money.

Wishful thinking and not being serious about an old urban myth doesn't really qualify as a "threat" except in the deluded paranoid mind of a unthinking follower of the amoral masses. But if you want to be laughed at.... I can go to Breitbart and Fox News and compile a list of dozens of actual (credible?) threats/rants against President Obama, Secretary Clinton, and Trump too, from people who comment there...hourly if you like. Instead you're reminiscing about a quip from two and half months ago...how sad. Your fantasy of a second term is unlikely, and impeachment is always a looming possibility with the multiple investigations still in play...but you enjoy your little delusions, and I'll enjoy mine.

When I hear points being made with facts and reason instead of unnecessary hate and insults, usually directed at the poster (yes I realize the hiprocracy), maybe I'll take the rest of what you post seriously. Otherwise you just come off as pathetic.

Oh, and I did suggest to move this over to the politics thread about 11 posts or so ago.....

Since it is a celeb thread with pics in it i prefer keeping it where it is. I could move it to celebrity extra. Other than that i leave political debating free as long as no members are being flamed. So carry on.

If you want the thread moved, report to a mod. They can't do everything. 2nd, most policies that benefit the poor help the larger society. And most ppl aren't anti billionaires. They are anti them getting tax breaks while at the same try lobbying for xuts in programs that help working ppl.

This administration is absolutely nothing like any that has ever come before it. So many unprecedented moments of the blind leading the blind, every day. If you're somehow trying to equate what's happening to politics as usual, you need to start paying more attention.

Election is over. Ranting and raving by leftists suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome is stupid and a waste of time. He made a lot of money and followed federal tax law. If he didn't pay his taxes, Obama's IRS would have told us last year. These "protests" just give him more incentive to NOT release his tax returns. Majorities or at least pluralities of voters in 30 states said they don't give a fuck last November. Case closed. Move on to more important issues.

I think Trump is a moron. Hillary too. I voted third party. We need to break the hold of the 2 party system. That being said I can't see any benefit to him releasing his returns. Why would he? He is not obligated to. Anything they find in them will be used against him. Even if they are 100 percent above board they will be spun against him.

I agree, his taxes are such a minor issue....the audit lie aside. There are so many other damaging issues to chose from....while using sound judgement so not to fall into the so-called media coined TDS. Sounds like there will be a pill for it sold right after the commercial for restless leg syndrome medication...

It's obvious the democratic party and the media are against trump 1000%. Noting will satisfy them so they will have a long hard miserable 8 years.

Obama was fed peaches, strawberries and cream for 2 years working on health care, while the economy floundered around like a wet fish. It passed without a single republican vote.

Democratic senators just plain humiliated themselves on TV over the Gorsuch nomination. It was embarrassing for the entire democratic party. Independents and republicans had a damn good laugh. Warren and franken were especially fun to watch humiliate themselves.

I didn't like obama but I didn't have a fucking hissyfit everyday. I don't like trump that much either but he is shaking everybody up, which I like.

Of the 200 million registered voters in the USA not counting the dead democrats in chicago who vote multiple times per election, 120 million voted in 2016. So both hillary and trump got 50% of the voters who voted, although democrats scream "trump only got 23% of the vote!" and if hillary would have won she would have got the same percentage of the general population.

I find all this pissing and moaning hysterical, and not real, in any sense of the word. Do you think anybody says, "before I go to the ballot box, I'll see what sarah silverman has to say..." Sarah silverman, the foul mouthed woman who jokes about pissing, defecating, assholes and vaginas. Or has-been desperate debra messing, who is dying for any and all media attention now that will and grace is coming back. She's a has-been and a barely-was.

Trump will be in for eight years, count them, a hard eight. A long ugly eight for democrats. Read it and weep crybabies. Keep pushing your rock up a hill like Sisyphus, see where it gets you. And do yourselves a favor, get peolsi and schumer out, they got those dead rheumy eyes a corpse has before it get cremated. Get some new blood. Best advice you ever got.

I don't wholly disagree with you...don't be shocked .

The economy should have been Obama's first priority, that and bailing out Wall Street cost the Democrats in 2010.

With the whole Gorsuch nomination, while the road to it was a historic embarrassment, the fight at the end was a waste of time, political capital and a unwinnable from the start.

I won't get started on the old electoral vs popular tripe, or the voter conspiracy theories. Trump won the electoral, lost the popular. Regionally, apathetic voters who might have voted for Clinton and didn't, along with a strong turnout on the right, caused this administration to be voted into office....

So maybe it wasn't you, but for 8 years the right blamed everything including the weather and traffic on Obama, so it's not that big of a deal if others point out the faults of someone truly unqualified for the job. It's their turn now...

Silverman and Messing...meh, they need better writers.

Oh and last, and don't misinterpret things..., I think we'll have a President Pence or someone else by 2020. If not, then this country truly deserves all that happens to it during the next 8 years.

I have a hard time listening to people who make millions of dollars complain about someone else making millions of dollars. The juvenile comments don't help either. You need real people who are complaining about his tax returns and not these props. I wouldn't be surprised if they in fact used the exact same loopholes.
