    Yeah the movie always felt like a bland narration to me rather than being immersive. If you were a bad story teller and you were chris pratt's character, that is how you would tell the story--first this happened, then that happened and this is how it ended. The whole movie is from one character's perspective.

    It's true that it would be a better story, but it would also be a horror movie and Pratt would be a monster. Even with the flashback as to his situation, you would be in Jennifer's mindset and Pratt would never be anything but evil instead of relateable. Like if you start a movie with a guy cheating on the main character and then show flashbacks that they had already drifted apart and she had pushed him away, he's still the villain because even that stuff seems like poor reasoning.

    It would have been a more interesting movie, but they wouldn't have made the movie if it was a horror movie. That they made his decision deliberate and selfish is kind of amazing enough to me. I had assumed it would have been something he did while drunk or by semi-accident rather than what they did. I give them some credit for that, as well as
    having them die before anyone else thaws, rather than giving them an out to make the decision less permanent.

    A more interesting movie for sure, but not one they'd spend the budget on or cast in that way.
