ahhh, i take it back, it is indeed Heather. it is also seriously fucked up. Eli Roth should be arrested immediately.

 

Fuck that. Eli Roth should be praised as an innovator and someone who is trying to bring originality back to formulaic Hollywood.

 

What's original about it? It's just gore. It doesn't take a lot of imagination, and personally I worry about people who are actually entertained by that sort of sick shit.

You talk about formulaic Hollywood, but these gore movies are now a dime a dozen. It's just a question of new movies trying to outdo each other in terms of how sick they can get. There's nothing original about it in any way.

 

Dude, you have to be kidding me. Roth has two of the most original flicks to date (Cabin Fever and Hostel) and the most original trailer (fake or not) I've ever seen in the form of Thanksgiving. You're obviously not a fan of horror films so debating about it is like trying to convince Paris Hilton she's unimportant. And I, along with millions of other people, are entertained by it. Whether that makes you worry or not is totally irrelevant.

 

Of course it's totally irrelevant. I am entitled to my opinion though, and I disagree completely with this idea that Roth is doing anything original. I would argue it's anything but, and instead just adding more and more to this new "gorenography" genre. But to suggest there's anything original in it......

I don't know what to say. That was too gnarly for words.

 

I feel more than a little creeped out by this scene. I think the point was to make human beings the actual monsters, which, in reality, is indeed a lot scarier than any monster/alien/giant phenom that used to run about in horror movies. I'm not a big horror fan myself, but I enjoyed the Saw series a lot which did the same thing. I could not finish the first hostel because I was really, really creeped out but I think Eli Roth accomplished what he intended to do.

 

Well, now that we know Heather Matarazzo is willing to do nudity, less hope her next role is a little more sexy.

And if any of you guys think her being strung up and then killed is "sexy" -- I don't want to know ya'.

I just hope things get going quicker in this sequel. The first hour or so of Hostel was (imo) terribly paced and like watching an utterly tedious teen road movie.
