useless filehost, highly un-recommended.

 

why are so many threads "blank" these days?

because of hotlinking and using low-performance imagehosts

imageshack isn´t a "small" imagehost - and even the guys over there don´t like the ammount of their bandwidth phun is "killing" - do you really think smaller imagehosts can handle what imageshack isn´t able to?

please check your own threads every now and then (after clearing browser-cache!) - and reconsioder your imagehost-decision when your pics are down.

it's true, and it's a pity, but I wouldn't add them to the no-no list just yet, well the "issues" list perhaps, yes...they have a couple of things going for them, one is that they explicitly allow adult content (there's a box you have to tick), the other is they let you link to full size pics, which is becoming a rarity. maybe they'll improve their server backbone in time, improving their speeds.

 

basically we differ two sets of "bad" hosts.

some (cash, malware etc.) are stricktly forbidden, others are ... useless and lead to unsuccessful, dissatisfying threads.

 

Don`t know what happened with http://www.imgdumb.com/ . It was a good host for single big size pix without registration but now only a new log in pop up window it there. No access ...

Also http://www.dumparump.com is down since one week. Cant really recommend it anymore. Too much downtime and they delete files too early even files are regular accessed :-?

 

Cheers mike. Although I haven't seen either host used in ages, DAR especially. Will have a check if someone tries using it and see what the go is.

 

can we please add Imagepal to the list.... it is insanely full of popups and viruses. I just had to re-install windows because of a virus i got from clicking on an imagepal hosted pic. Now my new virus protection won't even let me go to it...

We've had this problem before, again we'll look into it. The pop-up has been a concern.

On a side-note, I've seen the host lazygirls get used a fair bit recently. It's a shit host and has been on the list for a while, please report to us. I know there's still some threads of it active which I'll try get to later.

I've seen this happen more than once with pics hosted at Imageturf, I click on a thumbnail, and I get taken to a page with a message saying something like "No hotlinking, please use thumbnails". WTF?!

 

Are you using firefox? I have the same problem in firefox, in IE it's working oke.

 

they work for me in firefox. if you have extensions installed, like noscript and adblock, check their settings. or you may have referrer settings set to 0 intead of 2 in about:config

 

I haven't had a problem with imageturf when I've clicked on pics, I'm using FF.

 

I can't see any imageturf images and i'm using IE. I get the "no hotlinking, please use thumbnails" message.
