What happened to paparrazi and celebrity upskirts?

A decade or so ago it was like every week we would get some new celebrity pop star caught getting into a car without or without underwear. Name most of the most of the big pop stars and they've all had upskirt moments.

Now? You never or rarely see it happening. When it does, it's usually some "accident" that happens to the same Z list celebrity on a weekly basis. The types that are always having convenient wardrobe malfunctions for attention.

Yet you see the same younger generation of pop stars wearing the same style of clothing and there is nothing. Example: Madison Beer every week.

My guess? I'm either thinking lawyers got involved or the backlash from events like the "fappening" have turned upskirt photos into a "Upskirt photos still happen but we can't show them because it's now considered sexual assault because there wasn't consent." Plus it might be a way to deter the creeps that are caught walking around trying to film up dresses.

Just seems odd that we rarely ever see major celebrities upskirts anymore.

 

the main reason could be that it got outlawed here in the uk a few months back? now if the paps take and sell such shots then they'll find themselves in court & with a criminal record.

 

But that shouldn't affect what happens in the US. Most of the original pics were in front of Los Angeles clubs/restaurants and celebrities are still going to those same places wearing the same exact outfits.

 

I think most of those celebrity upskirt shots was more about them leaving a club or restaurant completely drunk and stumbling into a car wearing a tiny skirt.
My whole point is the internet has dozens of daily "________(celebrity) in a short skirt leaving Nice Guys/Craig's/Chateau Mormont, etc..) but you never see paparazzi pictures like we saw in the past. I guess that's my whole point.
It's almost like the paparazzi is too scared of printing offending shots and getting blacklisted.

You cant exactly go around sticking a camera up anyone's skirt and stars are way more media savvy today. Not too many dingbats like Paris and Britney getting out of cars with no panties on. Those days are over.

 

California (and many other states) also updated their unlawful photography laws to prohibit the practice after the Michael Robertson decision in Massachusetts in 2014.

 

I think it's a lot less socially acceptable, to be honest. There'd be a big backlash if upskirts or downblouses, etc were published anywhere. It really is an invasion of privacy if it's not already showing by itself publicly. Plus celebrities themselves could sue and would win in court.

My 2 cents, with the tinfoil hat: there was some sort of agreement in the past, at least some spoken understanding, that if an actress would show up, some photographer would have gotten that "insider" tip beforehand to snap a few pics. Everyone knew the events were fair game or something.

Nowadays: money is to be made via that shiny instagram profile, no matter how fake and staged all these photos are. Their reach is "better" and has more prestige in comparison to someone getting snapped a bit drunk in LA.
Getting photographed while getting out of a cab or something just makes everyone look, but the backslash (mostly through social media of course) will be entirely against the photographer's employer/agency. And then there are laws against upskirting.

 

Because it's creepy as fuck. Illegal in some places and trying to be made illegal in others. Being illegal in some places means there are fewer outlets who can buy it, and then those outlets can own or be owned by other outlets and policy works its way down the ladder.

Camera's are cheaper now and communication faster. So any idiot with a phone and a camera can do it. Sticking a camera up a woman's' skirt is very likely to get you blacklisted by agencies because its creepy as fuck and the next hungry person with a camera will take their place.

Society has changed a lot for the better. The boys will be boys attitude doesn't fly anymore and that aforementioned sticking a camera under a person's vagina without permission is, creepy as fuck and can be construed as sexual harassment. It's just not acceptable anymore for a photographer to lie on the ground and wait for Emma Watson who turned 18 twenty minutes previously to walk by, the same way "countdown to legal" clocks are not as common anymore.

And my closing statement: It's creepy as fuck.

 

The era of the 'celeb' mag culture has mostly died out, therefore the pack of self employed paps & criminal gangs that were making thousands off the pictures is not worth the 5-8 hours driving around LA/London/NYC.... Along with law changes & social media. Also the normal so & so's who fall out of reality TV are now handed vast sums of money for their 'own show' nowadays so they don't need the self set up photo shoots... I mean pap shots.

No one is talking about creeper dudes that stick cameras up girl's skirts. That wasn't even the topic of this conversation until you tried to make it into one.

I'm talking about normal paparazzi pictures that end up capturing more they realize. Most of the time I bet these photographers don't even realize they caught anything until after they see the pictures later. If you have a wife/gf that's wears short skirts, you know very well it's difficult for them to get in/out of cars if she doesn't plan out every move or angle right. Start adding in alcohol and it only makes it worse.


You see these same pictures on the red carpet too...an actress is moving around/bending and accidentally shows off a nipple in a few picture frames. That's all I'm talking about, just accidental candid stuff we rarely see anymore.
