I'm not one to argue politics. But I listened to this the other day. I would say she's pretty darn smart and is doing some good things. Working on getting people trained to do jobs that are out there for those who are motivated. Again I'm not arguing about it though. Just some information for people to look at if they care to.

All this is going to get deleted, but fuck it
You two do realise that she's a Democrat, right? Big time Democrat. She and her husband are both big Democrat donors. She couldn't vote for her father in the New York Republican Primary because she's registered as a Democrat. She's even best friends with Chelsea Clinton for god's sake, or was until their parents' bitter Presidential race in 2016 made things awkward.

She's not the perfect Republican woman or evil conservative strawman either of you seem to think she is.
The last three Presidents haven't had children old enough to be appointed to a WH position. However, Kennedy gave his brother Attorney General even though he'd never argued a case in front of a court and Nixon let one of his brothers co-chair his re-election campaign. Family members being given top government jobs is hardly anything new

I'm not sure how your examples hold up, Robert Kennedy had to be approved by the Senate Judiciary committee and then by the full Senate. As far as election or reelection campaigns, family members have been a part of those forever(they are NOT government jobs). Seems like false equivalences to me.

They gave RFK a voice vote because he would've been lucky to get 40 votes on a roll-call vote.

And it's not a false equivalence. People here are arguing that Ivanka is underqualified for her position and only has it because she's the President's daughter. I'm saying this is absolutely nothing new, RFK was underqualified for his position and only had it because he was the President's brother. Nepotism in the White House is not unique to Donald Trump. Believe me, if Chelsea Clinton were old enough to work there when her father was President, you better believe she'd have been working there

Yucon, I'd just like to know how you're allowing this thread turn into a political discussion with little regard for the actual pics. Yet when I tried to make a comment on a Daddario
post of yours, asking about whether her rumoured nude scene in an unreleased movie will ever see the light of day -- you decide to delete that as it's not relevant.

Yeah but this is the UN. The Donald would probably say Ivanka was giving them the level of respect he feels they deserve

I've always seen this as people saying that Ivanka is completely unqualified, whereas Bobby Kennedy was always considered a promising but underqualified appointment. There's a huge difference between being unqualified and inexperienced, and Kennedy showed that the latter wasn't necessarily a good indication of ability. Even his assassination has led to conspiracy theories about it being a way to get rid of him by people who he would have targeted while in that role. No-one's going to even consider doing that to Ivanka - they'd want her there for as long as possible because she's incompetent.

Even then, laws concerning government nepotism were introduced right after the Kennedy incident. Clinton probably would have tried his luck too, but that doesn't make it acceptable. Ivanka has no relevant skills or expertise, whereas Kennedy did. As for Nixon...well, do we really need to resort to him as precedent? "It's not bad because Nixon once did it too" does seem a little misguided, I'm sure you'll admit...

(And yes - it's not a coincidence that that Nixon paraphrase rhymes with "The great taste of Charleston Chew!". Aroooooooooo!

Such laws are ambiguous and don't actually include the White House staff, which is why Trump is able to hire his daughter and son-in-law in the first place.

I'm not necessarily defending Ivanka and her qualifications. Just saying that nepotism happens, especially in government, and is usually pointless to complain about. Ivanka is simply a White House advisor and, as for the UN, Trump has made it clear repeatedly that he finds the organisation trivial at best, so he's not doing any real harm by sending her there.

Sure, it's nothing new, but it's still a more than valid criticism. The only reason it's not so well remembered with Nixon is because of all the other reasons he was worthy of criticism. A little nepotism goes unnoticed amongst his laundry list.

I also don't buy that it's his way of denigrating the UN. After all, he's sending someone that he's admitted he wants to fuck...

    :naughty:

Ivanka is a smart girl, she spends 90 percent of her time advocating for women in business and job creation. She is as qualified as anyone to do the advocating she is doing. Remember party bosses are the ones who decide who will be your "duly elected candidate", I live in NY and the former highway boss in my town is now a sitting judge. Party bosses make deals, you get to choose between a few candidates that the bosses want you to choose from. This is why you get some of these decades long sitting Senators/Congresspeople. The bosses make deals and one side gets judgeships and other perks and in response they run a Mickey Mouse level opponent (or no opponent at all )against that long time sitting official. I'm not going to rag on democrats in response but I work for the government and let me tell you something. AT ALL LEVELS of government you would be shocked at the amount of nepotism. Shocked.

Having said that if her name wasn't Trump and she was just some reality star she'd be lusted after universally. Great bod on her and she's HAF.

Bill Clinton did appoint his wife to head Task force on National Health Reform as one of the first things he did once he became President (the announcement was made on January 25th 1993!)... and I wonder how qualified she was to be given that job.
