    Meanwhile

It was the first time I've seen live the Lord Mayors Show in the City of London.
Ok maybe you'd get a better view on Tv, but the sun was shining and Wifie and me enjoyed
    Women in Uniform.

Lunch now, then onto Wembley 90k sold out and not all at bargain prices.

Thinking back to today when I was little and being told at school about the fall of the Berlin Wall which
    happened 30 years ago today.

I remember I wish I'd be round to see Berlin before the Wall came down.

To me, it seems incredible that was a wall across Europe not keeping people out, but people in.

I've seen a section of the wall at the Imperial War Museum in London and if walls could talk!

Tomorrow is Remembrance Sunday and yes I will be out remembering those who died in two world wars
and the conflicts since and those conflicts that are still ongoing.

Finally thinking of those affected by the terrible floods in northern England and those who
have died in the wildfires in Eastern Australia.

I saw some news about the fires down there, and apparently much like in California there's a few people in Australia who think it's fun to start fires:mad:

It must be a European thing, I've never seen anything like that in commemorating the World Wars. I've always wondered how anyone can be gungho for war after seeing what happened in the World Wars, how can you possibly ever want a war when you see and hear of the sheer atrocities and carnage that came just from those 2 specifically? Guess that's the pacifist in me, and my mom's hippie heart and soul living on.

In the middle ages the power hungry rulers had the courage to lead their forces into battle and possibly die, even if the cause was questionable, but modern day decisions to inflict carnage and slaughter on an industrial scale are taken by those who remain totally remote and risk free!

I need to nuance this a bit. Its not so much commemorating the wars but rather remembering those that have fallen in the trenches and on the battle field. If we are to learn from our past disagreements we must remember what happened so we dont end up there again. It may not help in the end as there are strong winds atleast in europé for stricter border controls and protectionism/nationalism. But it saddens me hearing some kids in school that simply thinks the WW 1 and 2 is make belief and a hoax.

I'm afraid history doesn't go far back for some modern kids!
I was amused, but also dismayed, when I read someone's comment about the film, "Titanic", that they'd seen earlier, and had since discovered that the Titanic disaster had actually happened!
Those MGM films, WW1 and WW2, were only in black and white, but they were amazingly realistic weren't they!

Oh I know, I didn't mean to make it sound like commemorating means celebrating cause it doesn't always and this is a prime example of it. I just meant you don't see much of it for the World Wars here except for the anniversaries of D-Day and Pearl Harbor, which aren't about the Wars themselves as much as those specific occasions. There's Memorial Day and Veterans Day, but that's become a reason for an extended weekend in the first case and just a general acknowledgement of all military with the latter. Sad that more here don't stop to acknowledge that the World Wars weren't something to celebrate, not then, now or ever. Just be grateful if anything for the sacrifices which kept the world from becoming even worse, but nothing to be celebrating. As for the deniers, yeah I have heard them too. The rise of the internet has helped spread this idea that EVERYTHING past and present is a false flag, fake or a conspiracy, including the Holocaust and World Wars. Ughhh

Not all of europe celebrates the day quiet as much. Particularly the few ones that wernt to affected by it. Sweden for example that tried to be neutral but failed miserably. I do take part in silent minutes ahead of football games on this day that i watch on the computer. It isnt much but i like to show respect.

Saw Joker this afternoon. It was good. Sometimes its just as simple as that. But what is apparent is that if you are an opinionated person with strong views on different subjects its a lot harder to be awarded for your work. I mean with a library and great portrayals through the years as Joaquin has he should have had an Oscar by now. But nope he is uncomfortable for the jury and therefore he needs to be a divine entity Before he gets one. The thing for me though is that this isnt his best work. He is better in both the master and her.
