I didn't watch, do you mean everyone is interviewing her or something? Idk if she "requires" attention but I'm sure she enjoys it being in the public eye and all, even if its only a little.

BUT...

What she did to Scooter Braun was plain wrong, and shows her vindictive side, I've always said she's "all about the benjamins"; seems like she is a fuel to a lot of drama, which is about publicity/money!

And why isn't Joe there to support her? I never see him with her at these events, smells fishy.

 

After all that he's done to her , she deserves to stand up to herself. She didn't do anything wrong, she defended herself.

It must be a mutual thing, he's never at these shows, they must like to keep it private.

 

For us that are not well informed, what did she do to scooter? Didn't he buy out her music and refuse to let her "own" it to the point to where she couldn't play her hits at this event? I refuse to feel sorry for either one of them because they are better off then 99% of the world.

Here's what seems to have happened. Swift's deal with Big Machine was up. Taylor knew Borchetta was going to sell the label whether she signed or not-and she had no control over where it went-so there was no way she was signing. But she wanted to own her master tapes so she could control what happened with her songs. Borchetta said well, If you sign up again, for 7-10 years, we'll release one old master for every new album you deliver. that was the only offer she got for control over them. and she wasn't going to sign, so she reluctantly left them behind and signed with universal, where as you might imagine she got an awesome deal. then borchetta turned around and sold the label to a group ultimately controlled by scooter braun, who swift has had issues with over the whole kanye thing, media attacks by his artists, he's been in the middle of everything and everyone she hates. It was well known in the industry that swift would not even consider anything he was involved in, and borchetta knew that better than anyone. swift knew the sale was coming, its unclear if it was ever disclosed that braun was in on it until the last minute-im thinking not, the way stuff played out. Swift went nuclear, because now her masters are controlled by a guy she has accused of bullying, unethical behavior, and more. Now to be clear, borchetta had every right to sell that label to whoever he wanted, and the masters went with it-they are in fact the label's only real asset. there is nothing unusual about the label owning the artists masters-the label pays for them. artists of swifts stature get a different deal on their 2nd contract, which she did. there's nothing evil or in bad faith about her original contract with borchetta-it's the same deal every new artist signs, she got more publishing control (she had walked away from a writers deal with Sony at 14-the youngest artists ever to have one of those) but otherwise its boilerplate. Slightly complication matters is that her dad put up a big chunk of change to get big machine started, and one wonders if they shouldn't have had more control-but water under the bridge. The rest is history there. borchetta opened the door, but like it or not swift is a once in a generation talent and she was going to the top one way or another anyway. at this point she made it clear that one year hence, she was going to re record those masters as soon as she legally could-making scooters investment pretty worthless. (prince did this to his old label)

Then, this bit about performing the songs came up. 4 days before the show she says they put the kibosh on the ama perfomance and her netflix show-they say they didnt. they said they cant, and accused her of lying. BUT-hhere's the rub. While they cannot stop her from performing the songs, ever, they CAN stop her from doing so if they will be recorded, and thus they COULD stop the ama show and the netflix project. they ducked that point in their statement, in which they also claimed that on top of everything else swift still owed them about 7 million dollars and a couple of videos. she said they would only agree to let her perform if she agreed to NOT re record the masters AND stopped talking shit about them. they denied that as well. except swift gave the Times a copy of correspondence from borchetta spelling that out-and a copy of an audit showing she was owed about 8 million in back royalties from big machine. about then you started seeing stories that braun was unhappy with borchetta's handling of the situation, and he started doing the talking. he wants to talk, ok'd the performances, and wants a parley with swift, which he wont get. he desperately wants to stop that rerecording project. thats where it is now.

Braun was an idiot to pay what he did for big machine. borchetta was an idiot for selling it to him. Swift would have gladly written a check for those masters if given the chance, and everyone would be happy and wealthy. but she was never given that offer. thats the other thing she's pissed about. ultimately the law is on swifts side here a year from now-she'll redo those masters and put those guys in a real hole. it'll be an inconvenience for a while, but then she'll get to stick a knife in both of them. My guess is she winds up with the masters-but get yer popcorn.

 

For once, can we just look at the attractive woman, and leave the rest alone?
