    I still can't believe they put them in those costumes. Then again the reboot cartoon from a couple years ago did have them twerking so it's not the weirdest thing to happen in this franchise.

    From what I've read they break up and go their own way before reforming the group years later. So maybe the classic costumes is a small part of why they break up. Maybe they weren't being allowed to deviate off brand?

    I'm not talking about irl. In the show world maybe they were micromanaged, like many celebrities, even into their adult years. Which may be why they would still be wearing their recognizable costumes.
