Given that there is still a wave of anti-vaccine sentiment around the world (the U.S. especially), I think someone with a public profile such as her would help convince more people to get the vaccine.

Emilia posting online that she got the vaccine is worlds better than what LeBron James has (not) said about getting vaccinated.

 

You are quite mistaken, the people you describe vehemently despise liberal celebritys and would never base any decision on their recommendation. Her post has motivated zero people to get the vaccine that weren't already getting it. She's virtue signaling, nothing more.

Maybe the current times has given us all a heavier dose of skepticism and grumpiness, and I understand the tone in which you chose to respond. At the very least we are not calling each other names.

To your points: there is undeniably the chance that she is doing this for publicity. I don't think it's virtue signaling, as that means not doing much to help a situation. Anyone getting vaccinated helps to reduce the load on hospitals, so she at the very least is helping in that way. I am trying to look at the (no pun intended) positive side to her posting. I don't recall her doing a lot of things that warrant skepticism on her part. Besides, more pictures of Emilia Clarke is always a good thing, right?

I don't claim to have a direct link to what she is thinking, rather, I was simply saying that getting the vaccine and showing others that it's OK to get it can help ease the stigma of vaccination. (Why vaccination has become a political and anti-science issue is a whole other matter that is greatly depressing, but that's for a different place to be argued.)

 

Lethal or not, the sooner a majority of people get vaccinated, the sooner we can all return to a normal(ish) way of life. I for one am looking forward to going to the movies and seeing friends overseas again.
