My state tax is 8% - Federal taxes vary depending on what item you are purchasing. Alcohol and Cigs are more than food. I'm not sure exactly what they all are. They put Federal Tax in the price of the product and it's the murchants responsibility to pay the gov't.

I live in Texas..... There is no state tax.

 

I am talking income tax and what you refer to state taz. We pay 17.5% tax on anything we buy plus a bit more for certain things

income tax depends on your income - lower salaries pay less, higher saleries pay more - A 50 - 60K/year pays about 25% to federal.

So are you, the poorer people pay less here but we still on average pay more then you americans, even the poorer ones. The lowest income bracket here is $30000, which may be a lot/little over there.

 

That statement was purely because of Iraq and terrorism etc A muslim president may make a more happy global community.

 

Depends on where you live. In the small town that I live in 30K is not a bad income for a single person - I would say lower middle class. 30K in New York or LA would be poor.

Never happen - anywhere other than a muslim country just like a babtist will never be a leader of a muslim country. Side note: If it did, the rest of the world would look at us as traiders - if we can't stick to our own religion you sure as hell couldn't trust us for anything else.

 

But you do have freedom of religion in your constitution, not that I support the idea of a muslim president, but it would be theoratically possible?
