Seen several celebs ditch alcohol the last few years, Sammi Hanratty also recently celebrated a few years sober and Lucy Hale has as well. Wonder what has spurred this trend? I'm not against it, good for them, just curious.

Most likely they are alcoholics in recovery.

I'm going the opposite way. After 40 years of being alcohol-free, I figure my liver is in pretty good shape. Why not give it a workout?

As someone who has fought to remain sober for 16 years running now, and assuming she's a recovering alcoholic, my congratulations to her! I hope she keep it up.

A lot of people got too much into alcohol during the pandemic. When you get your blood work done the next time it shows your liver numbers and if they are out of whack it can be alarming.

I agree, it was just a trend I noticed which I am actually all for as someone who got scared straight a few years ago when my blood work showed that my liver and kidneys were not doing good after falling into several vices and addictions like drinking. I got that news and I went cold turkey after that knowing what it could have led to. Maybe they did too, I know Lucy Hale was scared straight a while back and finally kicked her habit, maybe the others did too. What is surprising to me is that looking at them in the past you wouldn't have known they had issues with alcohol, whereas you looked at me and it was obvious something had changed.

Anyway, congrats to them, it is so hard to kick any addiction, especially if you are in a life where the access to it is so easy.
