She's in the biggest bomb maybe in the history of media. She SHOULD distract from it.

 

Well, that's a hell of a statement. How is it already a bomb if it hasn't even been released yet? I saw a few early reviews and they were middling but not disastrous, and Netflix doesn't care if people like their movies as long as people click on them, which they usually do without thought. I read it cost Netflix $320 million, which IS a ridiculous amount of money to spend on any movie, let alone on untested, and fairly unknown IP, but it stars MBB who, could be argued, is Queen of Netflix, not just for being the face of their most successful and profitable show, but has also headlined 3 of their biggest original films. Pratt is no slouch, either, his combined box office gross puts him at #5 of the highest grossing actors of all time. People hover over The Electric State will get a preview for a movie with giant special effects and a bunch of familiar faces and not think twice about watching it. IF it were going to be in theaters exclusively, I actually would agree, it wouldn't make a profit unless it was highly reviewed and had GREAT word of mouth, and even then, it would probably perform similarly to The Fall Guy last summer. But Netflix being Netflix, all they need is the clicks and then they can brag about their AMAZING numbers that only they know if they make a profit off of. If Netflix cared about money, they wouldn't have given the Russo Bros anywhere near The Electric State's budget after The Gray Man, a movie that cost a similar fuckton of money that severely under-performed for them. But if it somehow does bomb (which only will be determined by public opinion vs. however Netflix determines profitability) I doubt any of it will affect Millie. I'd also wager she made a lot of money on this, same with Pratt, since they don't do back end deals , which explains some of that budget, all of the actors involved gets paid upfront (not dissimilar to Glass Onion's $200 million budget). Short story long, she will be fine.

 

Personally, I am excited to watch The Electric State.

 

Not sure how you can call a streaming movie that hasn't even come out a bomb.. .

 

Didn't mean to piss anyone off. Just going off of 22% on Rotten Tomatoes and a $300m+ budget.

Millie is supposed to be perfectly fine in it btw.

Not upset. Just not sure how one can qualify it yet.

But also, the budget is ridiculously insane. Makes no sense.

 

The only sense i can see in it is that they have to pay all their actors upfront, no back end points since it's streaming. $20 mil for Pratt seems possible, $5-$10 mil for MBB doesn't seem too crazy to me either. Plus Stanley Tucci, Giancarlo Espisito, Key Huy Kuan, and that's not even including the quality actors just doing voice acting. Then you have a $200 million blockbuster with top tier special effects, the budget would be similar to a Transformers movie, and I doubt Netflix even blinked at that budget.

 

I'm pretty sure everybody will be watching it because she's in it.
