Prediction: she'll win an Oscar for this role because Hollywood loves it when beauties play ugly re Kidman, Theron.

 

Lol - not exactly the same thing. Theron and Kidman were wearing facial prosthetics (multiple in Theron's case). Sweeney was just wearing less/little makeup and had a short brown wig instead of her longer blonde hair and extensions.

I believe he was referring to The Hours, for which Nicole Kidman had a large prosthetic nose and won an Oscar.

 

Except in Sweeney's case it's not her "playing ugly" when she looks the same way across every lower-makeup movie she's in - Christy, Eden, Echo Valley, Reality, Nocturne, etc.

 

And when the movie is good this movie, by all accounts, is not good. She also didn't really ugly it up, it is more akin to Robbie in I Tonya.

 

Lol - what? Not sure where you live, but, despite being a big fan, you either have not seen any of those movies or have never seen a picture of her where she has minimal makeup on.

As of the time of this post, you have 59 posts on phun, and they are all about Sydney's face. You seem obsessed in trying to convince people she's not pretty.

Why the obsession? Just wondering...

 

That isn't true of my posting activity (never mind the fact that my profile is private), but... I’m a big ice hockey guy, and I have a real thing about people getting away with “cheating.” I have no problem with anyone who likes this woman's actual face - to each their own. But it's quite irksome that fans are always going out of their way to make excuses for her, to the point of ignoring facts. I don't think this instance was even intentional, but the two above-referenced movies involved the women wearing actual facial prosthetics, and nothing like that was going on with Sweeney in Christy. Nor was it going on in Eden - where she went topless, but no one's talking about it on Phun because her face was more natural in the scene. Nor was it going on in Echo Valley - where a Sweeney fan locked the thread for no reason because she looked more natural in that movie, too. Nor was it going on in Reality, Nocturne, etc.

Like I said, if you like her real face, fine. But many current fans of her seem to think that her face actually looks like it does in her thoroughly Facetuned/filtered Instagram stuff or in the pics (often the most circulated, here and elsewhere) where an expression is obscuring what's unconventional about her features. Some of these same fans just a couple of years ago were saying her face is below-average (I used to lurk on this forum, hence the name) and now discount all logic to think that somehow a woman in her late 20s had a facial transformation. And discount the fact that straightforward photos (even with makeup), where you can openly see her facial features in repose, look nothing like her Facetuned Instagram pictures, and nothing like the many IG and event pictures where she's pulling cutesy expressions.

These same people say critical things all the time on other threads and cut no one any slack, yet with Sweeney they get worked up whenever anyone tries to simply point out the elephant in the room. I've never attacked another poster and never done anything but make observations. Feel free to rebut them if you think otherwise, but I've yet to see someone make a factual argument that addresses anything I'm actually saying.

 

I'm pretty sure it's just this one guy.

Why do you have to come into a thread to disparage a celebrity anyway? If you don’t like Sydney, pass the thread on by. Maybe read the Code of Conduct for the forum. There are plenty of threads where I don’t understand what they see in that person but I just keep going…. Hockey fan or not… hating cheating or not… You are policing the thread because you don’t like what people are saying about her. They don’t agree with your “facts”. What if they love her with no makeup? Honestly I have never come into a thread of someone I liked and saw someone like you disparaging them and said to myself “Wow, they are right. She’s not pretty at all” or whatever. It just brings negativity to the thread and is not Phun.

 

I took the time to answer that poster above in great detail, and none of the fans coming at me here evidenced having read past the first few sentences of my response, if that far. My points went well beyond what she looks like without makeup. Perhaps one of the apologists for her could just address the actual points I raised, instead of ignoring or miscategorizing them. What is the point of repeatedly getting bent out of shape but never rebutting, or even addressing, what I'm actually saying, which are facts - about what she and her fans (on Phun especially) do?
