2) Your point about Rachel crashing Snow white with her impromptu red carpet comments is so oblivious to reality. I'm not going to keep typing this bit out, cause I've had to explain this to so many of you here, so I'll cut and paste my former answers:

• I'm staying away from this particular debate in most circles, since it's even more triggering than the Rachel hate, but do you realise that Gal Gadot earned more than 7 times as much as Rachel for the film?

3) To your last point about 'noone will touch her' do you comprehend that she's just finished a months long lead role as Evita in the West End, the biggest play in the world?

And they're in active negotiations to bring Evita to Broadway, with Rachel starring again. Does that explain to you why she's taking a holiday on a boat instead of booking another film right now?

I'll just say that while I vehemently disagree and can't stand one of the two women who starred in that movie (anyone who knows me knows who I am talking about, someone who is no WONDERful talent in the slightest) that neither of them did the movie any favors with various actions and stances, nor did the producers who made it go extremely overbudget which is saying something as it had a massive budget to begin with. Yet notice how there was only one of them who got roasted by media gossip rags and 'insiders' and got lectured by a producer and told she had to apologize for a tweet of all things (which she didn't do) and that and her were used as the scapegoat for the movies failure, while the other got off scot-free. I WONDER why?The tropes, while based in bigotry, haven't exactly been proven false the last few years (especially with who is buying TikTok now and stated goals for it).

Anyway, I agree, let's enjoy the pics. We really do need a place to take these convos, I see that there is a chat thread for celebs on here, maybe we need to make a more concerted effort to use that when it goes from comments to debates and essays.

 

Only reason to get pissed off/triggered is if you have allowed tumblr-tier extreme bastardizations of feminism to convince you that it is morally forbidden to criticize or dislike any individual woman ever for any reason.

Actual Incels are men who irrationally hate ALL women because they are not romantically successful.

Criticizing a specific individual actress for mocking/trashing a iconic piece of entertainment she is directly part of adapting (for a company with a track record of pissing on beloved franchises) has nothing to with ones personal romantic life nor is representative how how one feels about normal women generally and so it factually is not evidence of anything resembling inceldom.

The left weaponizing Incel accusations is no better than conservatives abusing the term groomer.

Agree that is the ideal but we shouldn't be tolerating reprehensible personal attacks over criticisms of a celeb's behavior or politicking regardless of how annoying those criticisms have become.

Gal was less criticized because...
(1) - She did not talk shit about the original Snow White and so she seemed like the 1 part of the film that was least hostile to it's legacy.
(2) - They made a actual effort to make her look like the character unlike Theron in the 2014 Snow White (altho Theron was a far better casting choice & far better actress)
(3) - She is generally seen as fairly likable coming off of Wonder Woman.
(4) - She had none of the smug sadistic superiority or self righteousness as Zegler.
(5) - I do not believe she has brought up Israel while directly promoting this film like Zegler did bring up Palestine.
(6) - Like it or not the majority of America still believes Israel are heroes holding Islamic terrorism back from ravaging the planet and the Palestinians make for a uniquely bad counter argument considering the horrors they did in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon & Kuwait when those countries took them in as refugees.

 

Surprise, surprise, none of what you wrote had anything to do with my statements. Not one bit.

So because you obviously have a reading comprehension problem, I'll try once again to explain it to you:

Snow White lost Disney around 300.000.000$ (forget Disney claiming it will loose little over 100 million... that was creative accounting and basically transferring the loss to Disney+). The reason for that loss is massive production cost combined with abysmal box office score, especially it's opening weekend where it made "just" 42 million while other live action remakes (Alladin, Little Mermaid) made over 90 million (and Lion King made over 190 million!). Snow White for being one of the most recognizable stories out there and with original movie basically being what built Disney (we call it House of Mouse, but it was Snow White that made it what it is today) should have made at least 100 million on opening weekend. And yet it didn't. Sure all the unnecessary controversy over it didn't help and when politics got involved it quickly turned into a shit show but I'm not sure that would matter that much in the end since it didn't matter in other similar cases. After all, most of the people who vocally complained about it wouldn't go watch it anyway and were not target audience to begin with.

But what did hurt the movie are basically two things: Rachel's comments ABOUT THE MOVIE on the red carpet events and Disney's idiotic decision to replace Seven dwarves with Seven magical creatures (or whatever nonsense they were called) due to Peter Dinklage's comment. And then replacing those with CGI dwarves.

And just to make myself clear: by Rachel's comments I mean her talking about how this version of Snow White "will not be a love story", how Prince is not that important and "all of his scenes could end up on cutting room floor", how original movie is "dated, and quite obviously so", etc. there were more, but this is what I can remember of the top of my head. When the entire reason for making a remake is to build on nostalgia and to entice people who loved the original to go watch "new version", having the star of that "new version" telling the world that remake will have next to nothing in common with original is not good because why would the people who loved the original (which by the way is one of the historically most significant movies!) go watch the remake if it have nothing to do with original? So yes, Rachel could at least in part be made responsible for Snow White's opening weekend failure.

Yeah... I'm aware she was in Evita. So what? Other actors did stage plays and that didn't stop them from having a movie lined up once their run end. But at this point she have nothing lined up for next year. I guess we'll see what she'll get in the future, but like I wrote, between her comments about Snow White during it's press release events combined with her comments about Shazam during it's run will probably make producers think twice before casting her. Besides, while I do realize things are different when it comes to theatrical productions, pretty much the only publicity event I can remember her doing for Evita was singing "Don't Cry for me Argentina" from Palladium's balcony...

Bottom line, as sad as it is because she is a talented singer and actress she wouldn't be the first (and certainly will not be the last) young actor/actress that destroyed their career through poor comments and/or behavior.
