    This may get me in trouble but... I recently read that Roger Moore quit Bond because the age gap between him and the 'Bond girls' was getting ridiculous. They were young enough to be his daughter and even grand-daughter. So, he exited stage left.
    Maybe Connery didn't have any such qualms?
