Just the idea of Hollywood actresses doing any sort of publicity or positive press by participating in an event in Saudi Arabia, who aren't exactly known for freedom in their media. And the fact the moral nutjobs in that country have forbidden/censored a lot of her onscreen work and would likely lash any woman there for even watching any of it, let alone dressing like or behaving in such an 'immoral' way. Doing business there if you're an actress or just being a female basically says to me "Yeah, this is a bloodthirsty dictatorship who specializes in making women second class citizens, but the money is amazing, and I am always open for business". Seeing that a lot of them are also such public feminist types makes it all the more laughable:2cents:

Why would anyone make a movie there? They shouldn't, but Hollywood is weird.

I don't think these ladies made anything there, this is just part of the whitewashing attempts by the Saudi regime of all their crimes and human rights violations. Just like them buying EA Games, doing a mega deal to bring lots of WWE events there, basically buying the largest pro golf organization, all trying to whitewash and buy their way into having everything they do be overlooked in exchange for $. And these actresses obviously have no beliefs or values beyond "GIMME MONEY, TO HELL WITH EVERYONE ELSE!", which I guess shouldn't be surprising seeing the actresses there who have never met a paycheck they wouldn't take lol.

Six Flags Qiddiya City is opening in January with Falcoln's Flight, a roller coaster that drops off a 600-ft cliff (182 m). It will be the tallest, longest, and fastest in the world at 155 mph (249 kph).

Despite that I wouldn't go to Saudi Arabia even if you paid me. And Six Flags shouldn't do business with them either, if they have any morals.

Edit: I get it now. I just noticed in the title that it said this premiere was in Saudi Arabia.

Jeezuz raider, you know we're normally aligned on most most things, but this is where you're totally off.

I've been reading these comments and too close to bed to be able to make a proper response, but a couple of immediate things:

Saudi is investing mega money into the us film business. To try and help rebrand, as part of their broader diversification efforts closer to crunch time.
    .
When their economy runs out of oil, which if you study this stuff is closer than I think people realise. And their citizens don't pay income tax, so no built in backup plan.

It's only one plank, but for the purpose of this conversation, they're buying up Hollywood IP at an epic scale. So the actresses over there aren't "yacht girls" if that's what you're suggesting.

But obviously they are enjoying the largess of this moment. Why wouldn't you!

On the other hand, let's not not get started on human rights abusers as a country, that's a much deeper and realer conversation

I shouldn't have just said 'enjoying'. They're likely to have had their agents do a better job of explaining what I just did

I mean, there's a reason Ricky Gervais said 'You think you're woke, but you're not woke. Most of you, if ISIS started a streaming service, you'd be calling your agents, wouldn't you?'

I do think some of them genuinely believe that by being over there, they are expanding representation and can help improve things there. (Jessica Kirson made that argument, and from what I gather it's not a put-on - she earnestly thought she was helping.) So I try to take at least some of it as good-faith, and not just greed. That said, some of them definitely are just without principles, and I think the ones who are trying to help are fantastically misguided if they think this is the way to do it.

How many of the 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia? That's basically what they've done, by cosying up to them
