BTS Sophie Turner as Lara Croft - 1/15/26

Need to see an ass shot before we can make a judgement on her suitability for the role (and I am a huge Sansa fan but Lara has a lot of history) plus fighting scenes etc.

 

That is a great promo pic. Imho she really nails the look. I don't remember the exact year, but let's just say 10 year old me would be psyched.

 

Wouldn't have been my first choice, and I know some will inevitably have an issue with having someone who doesn't match the original Lara Crofts 'assets' from the original games (when female video game characters all had to have tits the size of watermelons lol), but this is a pretty good first look. And we know she will nail the accent effortlessly for obvious reasons. Want to see her in action as Lara now.

 

She looks great, but I'm still not convinced she's a good enough actress to carry a TV show as a lead... and created/written by Phoebe Waller Bridge? That doesn't bode well either..

 

Overrated as an actress/celeb but she looks good in this get up.

 

Wouldn't be my first choice... or even second or third and I guess her disastrous portrayal of Jean Gray plays a part but she doesn't look bad here.

That said, as long as Phoebe Waller-Bridge is involved in the show it will be horrible... no way around it.

 

The outfit & look is shockingly decent but the lack of boobs is insufferably glaring even more so than on Vikander which I did not think was possible.

And the comics.

Outside of Mortal Kombat style fighting games I don't think that is notably true.
Regina (Dino Crisis), Joanna Dark (Perfect Dark) & Jill Valentine from around then all weren't overly busty.

 

My choice for a young Lara would have been Grace Caroline Currey (Shazam)

 

Lack of boobs on Sophie doesn't really bother me as much (I'd have no problem in them casting Camilla Luddington) as is the fact that I don't believe she have the acting ability to do Lara justice... she was passable on Game of Thrones (with next to nothing to work with in S5 and later due to horrible writting) but other than that I can't really think of anything where she was good at. Granted, I didn't see a lot of stuff with her in it outside of X-men where she was so bad (not all of it her fault) that is basically killed the franchise.

So when you combine Sophie's questionable acting ability with Pheobe's known utter lack of any writing ability and this show is probably dead on arrival. It will be yet another show that people talking about it on internet will make more money out of it then studio will.

 

She would make a heck of a live-action Witchblade.
Used to also like Amanda Righetti for that role.

 

Kelly Brook in her prime would have been an amazing Lara Croft. At least looks-wise.

Anything written by Phoebe Waller Bridge is pretty much the kiss of death these days. Its best to keep your expectations low.

No actress will ever be sufficient to satiate the chronic masturbators that are tomb raider fans. It's an absolute waste of time to keep trying to do live action tomb raider. Want proof? This thread.

 

It's dead on arrival because the fans of the games have no fucking clue what they want. Y'all have been gifted so many opportunities, but the fans want softcore porn, not a compelling story. Hollywood should give up on tomb raider because it's an impossible sell.

 

The owners of the franchise have dropped the ball so many times - post Angelina Jolie, the subsequent perfect woman for the role was always Hayley Atwell (and probably still is) even if her age is likely the reason the dimwits in charge (that recently got her to voice the character instead) didn't cast her in the film version.



Jury is out on Turner acting wise and whilst the actual 'Lara' look in that picture seems on point (although it really isn't rocket science to tick that particular box is it) as most have said with Waller-Bridge writing it, you fear it is going to have a particular 'slant' on it that will likely mean the character will lose what makes Lara that super smart, smoking hot, British arse kicking archaeologist/adventurer.

My advice.....go into it with low expectations and hopefully be pleasantly surprised if they don't f*ck it up too much.

 

Mortal Kombat rarely relied on enormous boobs. Sexy costumes, yeah, but only a few games had enormous boobs, and those were the worst of the series. But no single video game series fans were as singleminded as tomb raider fans about bust size. Even DOA with their jiggle physics, their fans aren't as sweaty and thirsty as tomb raider fans.
