Music left her behind and she never took hold as an actress. Her last real album hit into the mainstream was Ray of Light in 98. But yeah from the mid 80s to 99 HUGE. Remember her kissing Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on stage at the awards show.

Crazy that her ex-husband Guy Ritchie is more culturally relevant these days than she is.

 

Culture is always moving. When I was a kid, Louis Armstrong was just the fat black guy in Hello, Dolly.
It wasn't until much later that I came to understand what a huge deal he really was, and only because I took the time to find out.
Most of us didn't bother, just as most won't bother to learn about Madonna. So it goes.

 

25 years of success (if 2008 is your date when Madonna finally fell off) is still way more than most big time female musicians (and most big-time male musicians too). But she has been in the "doesn't really need to record new music and can tour off greatest hits" realm like the Stones/Aerosmith/etc for years. But there's probably a bunch of people making money in music/OnlyFans/etc who owe some of their success to 80s/90s Madonna.

[It kinda feels like Madonna started to fall off around early 2000s, around the time that she kissed Britney/Christina at the VMAs, but she did have some hits in the mid-2000s, and a #10 hit in 2010 with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. which are two artists who have been in the news for interesting reasons in recent years, by "interesting", I mean "reasons that get threads locked"]

anyways, she looks better in those pics than some of her other recent pics. I don't think the braided hair she had in other pics works as well with the various work she's had done on her face. But when you're 67, it is what it is for looking good.

It's difficult to be a vampire like Christie Brinkley.
