That's the one natural event i still haven't seen with my Mark I Eyeball and would really like too.

Well, that and a continental drift and a meteorite strike, but i can live with missing those.

But i'd want to be a good ways off. ;)

I think it's because for so many of the athletes, it's their one shot at glory. College athletes - on the gtidiron for example - have 4 consecutive years to make a mark, and possibly go on to the pros and have a remarkable carreer. But for so many of the Olympic athletes, that's it, right there, all or nothing.

Plus, so many of the sports have little or no real world counterpart.

And then you get someone like Bolt, who strolls into the 100m and blows everyone away.

There was a joke about that on `Mock the Week` - it could only have been more galling if he'd got out his camera phone and said `come on, guys, i wanna try and get us all in this.`

Tornadoes are the one thing that I can say without hesitation that i'm afraid of. The can drop out of nowhere and are so unpredictable.
The tornado chasers are out of their fuckin minds. But they are seriously awesome to see.

It's moving in the same general direction as they usually do - which is a bit north of where i'm at so it looks good. They usually are predictable but sometimes they can hit mountains and turn directions - that's the biggest thing you have to worry about.

They're unpredictable to form but around here once they get on the ground they take a very simular path each time. They follow the river, just depends which side of the river they get on and how far away from it they get.

    That's a good placeto see tornadoes. ;)
I like Metallica, But I'd never be mistaken as a huge fan. :)
Not surpisingly, Cirque du Soleil is one of the largest employers of former Olympic athletes. A few dozen of them work here in Vegas as a matter of fact.

Hmm... interesting. Out on the prairie they just ramble willy-nilly in a north easterly direction, at least you know which direction they're heading. Of course, if you're in their path, that's of little comfort.

I googled that - freaky looking costumes.

There's mountains on each side of the river that they jump on and off of. I'm several miles away from the river but not far enough. 10 miles from me is not uncommon several times a year. They don't seem near as wide here as one the form out west either but make no mistake - they're ever bit as deadly.
