this is what wikipedia says: "Proposition 8 was a California ballot proposition passed in the November 4, 2008 general election. It changed the state Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to opposite-sex couples and eliminated same-sex couples' right to marry, thereby overriding portions of the ruling of In re Marriage Cases. The measure added a new section (7.5) to Article I, which reads: "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."

If gay people want to get married so let them. I find "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." a lot of BS. I rather have a gay friend than a war fanatic. Thank god the people here in the Netherlands are not so small minded, here a gay person can marrie an other gay. I have nothing against gay but it's not my choice.

The people of Cali voted and said they don't want gays to marry in their State. That's how it works in this country. It's ridiculous that could even be appealed.

You can't start changing laws for a small segment of the population.

And, Prop 8 wasn't retroactive, so everyone that was married before is still married now.

By that logic, slavery would still exist. After blacks are only a small segment of the population (13.4%). Or how about anti-Semitic laws after all Jews are an even smaller segment (1.2%). Why should Jewish marriages be recognised in a mainly Christian country?
