I couldn't agree more. And all that from a couple of Aussie kids with buzz haircuts and Midwest U.S. accents.

People keep bitching about the number of British, Irish, Australian or Kiwi actors playing American.

    But......it's 'cos they're so good. ;)

Good actors all over the place. Hollywood likes trends. (Plus, I wonder if they were cheaper to hire than equally experienced U.S. actors?) Just me being cynical.

Someone once said that actors from the other Anglo nations are more willing to go to darker places, which is why you had that constant stream in the 80's and 90's of British actors playing the villain. Plus, especially for the British, a lot of them come up through the stage, so are generally better at the `art`.

Will Graham: I know that I'm not smarter than you.
Doctor Hannibal Lecktor: Then how did you catch me?
    Will Graham: You had disadvantages.
    Doctor Hannibal Lecktor: What disadvantages?
    Will Graham: You're insane.

Freddy Lounds: How does working on this case affect your sex life?
Will Graham: Mine? It doesn't affect mine, it affects yours. Go fuck yourself!

The late Gene Siskel of "Siskel and Ebert" fame hated movies with villains that didn't work well as villains. He always said you've got to make the audience hate villains with a vengeance, and then make them more evil than that. It was one of his pet peeves.

Sir Anthony Hopkins played Hanibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs.
Awesome actor, still gives me chills

He also played Burt Munro in The Worlds Fastest Indian, completely different character & role!

I'm in Invercargill now, where the bulk of that movie was set.
Only a couple of blocks from where Burt actually lived..............
