    They had room to grow. "Space age technology". As far as my experience went, there was no point......mostly because ours was constantly being broken. Long cord + hyper dog = broken stuff.

    No, those were only for truly posh rich folks. We had child controls and to this day I've never seen a better voice activated remote.

    Tv channel changing @ Cy's house circa 1975:
    Dad(sitting in his chair): "Go turn the tv to channel 9, football is coming on.)
    Whichever child was closest: "click-click-click"(sound of knob on tv being turned)
    Voice Activated Remote Control- always fast reponse, never needed batteries, always worked till 9pm.

    3 channels. NBC(4) CBS(5) ABC(9) + the never watched PBS(19).

    In Detroit we also had 2 UHF channels and we got the CBC (because we're just across the river from Canada).
