    Hey Haywood, I know you're a huge opponent against passwords. While I can't speak for all posters, here are my couple of reasons why I use 'em:

    1) Longevity: in my experience - and especially since I post on a few other boards - my files have lasted a bit longer when I password protect them.

    2) Link-stealing protection: Password protecting my files makes it a bit more difficult for linkstealers.

    It might be slightly annoying, but really at the end of the day, I try to make it easy for downloaders to know the password (included in every post AND you see the password in the .rar file before extracting). For the minor annoyance it might cause you, it's worth it to have the files last longer.
