What's Up With Rapidshare? + New File Hosts

Uh, I haven't downloaded anything from Filesonic, but I thought that was always the case. At least, that was the case for Sharingmatrix (which was what Filesonic was before).

 

No; they had 30 secs, then it downloaded.

Then the cursed 7008 page.

Now the old SM trick.

^ you tried a dl manager? I dl from any host I am not premium always through j downloader. I don't trust downloading through a web page if I am honest.

Btw MU just whent seriously slow for me, it used to fly at over 300kbs, now its 40kbs. Do they still have those happy hour things?

 

Yes they do... for me, it usually happens around this time for the next 2 hours or so.

 

I'm just using MU as free user at 1.1 MB/s.

 

I can never get the damn things to work for me.

Life changes when you start using jdownloader or similar programs. Should give it a try, i am sure that many people would be willing to help you if you explain whats the problem.

 

Just loaded a RS file after several months of not doing so. I was a Premium Member for about 9 months before they adapted their new format. As a downloader, I find their new system totally confusing. I purchased 400 Rapids, whatever that is, got my password and discovered that I had wasted my money. I could only download as a Free User. The 118m file I downloaded took 25 minutes. It appears that the new system is designed specifically for uploaders without any thought being given to those who wish only to download. There is nothing in their website that answers questions or gives any assistance to downloaders. The info in the FAQ's was of no help.

 

i'm using ie6 , filesonic never loads for me, stuck after clicking regular download buttom

 

i have no problems down loading with RS i down load 3-7g a day with most of the down load rate over 1000kbs, it just a bit of a sod to set up the new down load manager thats all if you want me to screen print to show i will it took me a day or so to work out all the kinks, BUT trust me it is still a down load and up load site, i hope this help plus its a fair bit cheaper now

Wow.. I can't believe RS is doing this.. they're going to severely lose money as no one is going to trust them with their shit anymore.

 

Tried the newest wrinkle in Rapidshare this morning? If you want to wait the timer out and d/l for free-you NEVER actually get to the file, their new page sucks so bad there are no words to describe it- Bye Bye- never again!

 

I've just seen their new website and have sent a few emails of complaint already, quoting some of the comments here (no names). After having decreased the secured storage level it has now been restored (for more points/Pounds/Euros)? I've hardly seen a new RS link in months, so they may just have a rethink. It's probably too late.

I had 3 accounts with them when the shit hit the fan, and I still do, but the validity of those accounts appears to change by the month. I still use them to d/l RS files at max speed but when they expire so might I.

They are finished really without any reward for uploaders (not even a free account lol) they cannot compete, many have persevered with them till now but I think now they have essentially increased the price of Rapids by five times they are pretty much finished. Even the most ardent, stubborn proponent of RS surely cannot stick with them now.

I am genuinely curious as to their business strategy, at first I thought they were trying to go legit or at least pretend to be for litigation reasons. But now I just have no idea.

Too many people got too many rapids earned earlier through rapid point system. They decided to get rid of those rapids...

But, too many people jumped the boat months ago - so I don't see the point of all this.

Btw - the only thing that is missing on this new page is the place for avatar, sig or even personal photo...

 

i guess that makes sense, but they really think people are going to buy rapids like this so they can make profit from both uploaders AND downloaders. Only a muppet would purchase Rapids.
I deleted all my RS files a few months ago when they started deleting accounts and really I only used them to dl something that I could not find on HF. I had loads of points/rapids now the account is basically worthless I think. I dunno I am confused but it all.

Like I said I have no interest in their storage but without this RapidPro I assume I cannot dl from them?
