    Little help needed regarding quality of gifs. I'm sometimes disappointed with my finnished gifs (see second gifs skin tones) & think I have tried everything to stop that kind of distortion, I know the original footage is important & gifs only use 256 colours but wondered what other people do to "optomize" their finnished gifs?
    I capture frames in PNG format then use Photoscape or Ulead gif animator, I have Photoshop Cs4 but don't use it for making gifs.
    Is it better to cap frames in original size then resize to what I want or cap in a size I want the finnished gif to be? Is the number of frames capped in m/seconds important to quality or does it only affect the size & smooth running when finnished?
    I've tried Googling for help but all I've found is usually to do with small gif's & not the kind that are posted here.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    I cut my videos into gif-sized clips (100-250 frames) using virtualdub but keep it the original size. Then I do what's posted here:

    Brilliant help from all, cheers guys! I can get my finger out now & hopefully start posting more instead of spending time testing & retesting. You lot have set the bar pretty high & it's not easy keeping up but I'm enjoying the challenge.
