Alright...this might be considered blasphemous, possibly get me banned or at least earn me a stern "pm" about my comment, but what the heck. Here it goes:

Although I think these ladies are quite pretty - I can't understand why they are always posted in the "celebrity" section of the forum. We've got a "models" section; but these women are always added to this section...and aside from Inuk (the OP), maybe only a handful of people have ever heard of them. What gives them their "celebrity" status? They are models. And it seems like Asian countries (you know who they are!) are just full of very pretty women and people with cameras. Does this make these women "celebrities"? Meh! I think they're "models". If that.

Don't get me wrong - I love Asian woman! I think they are the most beautiful creatures on god's little blue planet. But to classify them as "celebrities"...well, that's quite a stretch, don't you think?

ok. I got that off my mind. Thanks for reading this. No offense intended, and I didn't mean to upset anybody. I just think that, perhaps, some distinction needs to be made between a "celebrity" and a "model". I'm bracing myself to take whatever punishment or ranting is coming my way.

I didn't say anything about "American-only", did I? I merely stated that these women are, for lack of a better term, models. More than likely, just a pretty girl who posed for photographs. Celebrity status? I doubt it. Model status? Sure, why not.

I can't see anything in this forums rules (Celebrity Section) for the definition of a celebrity.

So where's your objection for Gisele Bundchen and Allessandra Ambrosio?

Look up who these women are, and what they're doing aside from modeling, and then ask that question again.

    According to Wikipedia:

Gisele Bundchen is a Brazilian model and occasional film actress. According to Forbes, she is the highest-paid model in the world and also the sixteenth richest woman in the entertainment world, with an estimated $150 million fortune. B?ndchen also acts as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Environment Program.

Alessandra Ambrosio is a Brazilian model, best known for her work with Victoria's Secret and was chosen as the first spokesmodel for the company's "PINK" line. Ambrosio is currently one of the Victoria's Secret Angels and the former face of the UK company Next.

Aside from modeling work, Ambrosio serves as an ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Ambrosio was also selected by AskMen.com as Number 2 out of the "Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2008".

Do I have an objection to these two women? Nope. Seems to me like they're more than just a pretty face. But hey - I'm not going to argue this with you anyway, so...

*gasp!* She's a celebrity! You just think she isn't because you've never heard of her.

I had to look up Gisele Bundchen and Alessandra Ambrosio anyway...I had a little recognition of Gisele's name, but never heard of Alessandra.
Either way, back to my original point - they're still models. There's a section for models, isn't there?

The 'Model Forum' seems to be for porn models.
Although not clearly named or catagorised, the models currently in this 'Celebrity Forum' do not fall into that catagory, unless they have become celebrities such as:
Eg: Traci Lords or Jenna Jameson. That's my assumption.

IMO, this site has become very popular as it stands, even if catagories/clarification may need some work. It works.

In South-East Asia girls that want to be in the entertainment industry are "models" regardless of height or anything else. The idea is simply to get their faces out to get into singing/acting as soon as possible. None of them will last as "models" as they simply are not "models" and have no realistic hopes or aspirations for being one. The money in Asia is in having an album/film which lands you a bunch of endorsements.

Jude Law is an example of market specific celeb status, a well-known celeb in most places, but he was replaced in his own international Dunhill campaign in China because very few people knew who he was. This meant that it was virtually pointless to have him on big billboards because nobody recognised him and just saw a small, slightly balding man with a photoshopped hairline and it didn't do the brand any good. He had less star power than a local celeb but charged a fair bit more for the usage so they went another route. The fellow from Prison Break, Miller, he has a HUGE following and easily eclipses most Hollywood stars so it's just about recognition which is what defines a celebrity. You'd all know the talentless wonders of Spears and Cyrus but if you saw the genius that is Rod Temperton 99.9% wouldn't have the faintest idea. It's all about exposure and local markets and Phun is predominantly a western one. I am sure few in Japan know about Lucy Pinder et al so it's all relative I think.

Nothing wrong with a bit of new and interesting international totty. It only takes a wave of interest to take someone, regardless of talent, from relative obscurity to fame. Take that useless (*but annoyingly buxom) Kim Kardashian is a perfect example.

*annoying because as a red-blooded male it's impossible to hate on that package even if it does belong to a vacuous ninny.

?? The fact you don't know his full name is a bit contradictory to him being HUGE.

Anyway, I think we are a little off topic.
