The guy is a idiot. Tom Brady played on a broken foot. Hard to be mobile as well, but he sucked it up and played. Philip Rivers had a TORN ACL in the 2008 AFC Championship game and he played.

A strained MCL (and it wasn't a tear, it was a strain) probably hurts like heck and would make him less mobile. But Bears fans are 100% correct that he should have tried like heck to go out there and play. If he played a little more and just wasn't effective, fine. But he didn't. And it's absolutely spitting in the face of all the Bears fans to go instantaneously from "I'm so hurt I can't play" to publicly prancing about with your blonde reality show bimbo girlfriend.

That's being overly technical. If you want to be really technical, I get a muscle tear every time I work out, since it's technically "tearing muscles" when you lift weights.

Reality, though, is this -- doctors break a "strain" into 3 phases --

Stage 1 -- Mild damage, needs rest
Stage 2 -- More extensive damage, needs rest
Stage 3 -- Complete tear, typically needs surgery to correct.

In the vernacular of Sports Medicine, only Stage 3 is *ever* called a "tear." Everything else is just considered a "strain."

Cutler has a Stage 2 strain. In most cases, yes, he should rest and yes, playing on a strain could worsen in. But given the importance of the game and how other quarterbacks have played with worse injuries (Tom Brady and Philip Rivers and Brett Favre, for example) he should have at least given it a try until he was clearly ineffective. And after that, he at least should have the decency to the Chicago fans to not prance around.

Heck, I know that Tom Brady was less then at his best because he was hobbled by the broken foot. If he's 100%, does he have that extra bit of mobility to move around and make the couple of plays that could have beaten the Jets? Possibly. But I know for certain that he gave Patriots fans every single thing he had and didn't hold back anything at all. Can Bears fans say the same about their QB?

 

It is always an excuse for the Patriots and Tom Brady when they lose. Even if he was healthy they would not of won that game. And the coaches took him out of the game when Cutler came back in the 2nd half he was throwing ducks. He was clearly ineffective. Because he needs his legs to throw. I think that Cutler gave them all he had as well he was beaten up all season. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt here. All the sudden everyone is a dr and everyone is the strongest mother fucker on the planet.

And this is a ligament not a muscle.

One ex NFL football player this week said as a player that he could play through a grade I sprain, and he couldn?t even stand if he had a grade II or grade III sprain.

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has the sameinjury as Cutler. He received it 2 Weeks ago and can not play in the pro bowl. What a pussy! LOL

Lets looks at the NFL players calling him out Deion Sanders in his 14 year career he had only 276 tackles lets compare that to Charles Tillman who had 632 in only 8 seasons Deion played in 188 games, Tillman in 114. And I know Cutler has only missed one game in the NFL due to injury. How many has Deion missed. It must of been a lot because I can not find a number

As far as toughness... Tim Tebow played a H.S. game with a broken leg. John Elway & Hines Ward played/playing without an ACL in there knees.

people can still function with a broken bone unless its a clean break. Ligaments and tendons can severely limit movement so it can't be compared.
