    My guess is that he was going through one of those periods in his marriage when Maria had probably busted him for being out and missing too often and made him stay home, so Arnie took what he could get right under the roof. In some ways, being famous like that gives you great access to other women, but in other ways, it makes it hard to go unnoticed when you take that up. So his little brain led him to the simplest route possible.
