    From IMDB: "Tells the story of an introvert freshman named Charlie who learns everything from drug use to suicide after being taken on the wings by step siblings Sam and Patrick."

    Supposed to be a movie made from a very dark novel about an abused teen who experiences all forms of mental hell and the story picks up at the point when he begins University. :shrug:

    It's not a particularly dark novel, and it's an epistolary novel told from the point of view of a quiet, somewhat shy 13-year old as he experiences his first year on high school, and learns far more from new friendships and aquaintances than from his classes, after being taken under the wing of an older pair of step-siblings.

    From "Epistle," it means "Told in the form of a letter or letters." In this case, the novel is a series of letters written by protagonist Charlie to a famous person who doesn't know him, but seems to him to be trustworthy. We never learn who this recipient is.
