What's Up With Rapidshare? + New File Hosts

Don't spend too much time in reading and figuring out, mokkoriman, i'm pretty sure next month it will be a totally different (of course "improved and much better") system

Not long ago they got people to buy rapids by telling them that you can switch on/off the RapidPro function and so you will only use up rapids when you need them, now RapidPro is automatically activated if you have enough rapids! That's simply scamming ...

The whole thing sounds to me that those guys have still no clue what to do with all their empty servers. They are still changing their whole business model every three months, look what's happening and then have another try. And though they still expect people to buy a two-year-membership

 

With regards to FileSonic, I finally broke down and brought a 12 month premium package and the d/l speed has been all over the place (200 Kbps - 1.5 Mbps). Nice not to have to wait or f around with those stupid Captias.

I just recently started reupping to RS because it started to work for me again and I am still a premium member. But like cosmicfilter (Post #636), I too went from several years of RS premium service down to about 18 months.

And because of their constant changing of the rulz, when that is over, I am done with them.

 

Hi guys, do any of you want to purchase rapidshare rapids. I have 3900 rapids in my Rapidshare account and want to sell all my 3900 rapids for only $30 USD.


If you purchase from rapidshare directly then it would cost you more than $55 USD. The current rate at rapidshare is:

$28.5 USD for 2000 rapids

and


$85.4 USD for 6000 rapids


So, the rate for 3900 rapids for 3900 rapids would be officially $55.53 USD.

So, I have selling is at almost half the price at $30 and it is completely legit.

The reason is because I have been a rapidshare user for almost 3 years now but am not using them anymore. I had my rapidshare premium already extended till April 2011 but they suddenly deducted my rapids automatically and renewed my premium account for May 2011 too. I planned to keep the rapids for future use but they are automatically extending the RapidPro account and so I am selling off the rapids instead of getting these automatic extensions.


If any of you wants to continue with rapidshare then it is a golden chance as I am selling the genuine rapids for nearly half the price. I will accept payment only through paypal.

 

Lol, I didn't even know, I didn't read their changes. Those fuckers reactivated my account with Rapids I was saving for when I would need a RS account for rare old movies or something (I sold most of my Rapids through a forum, so I only had like 1000 Rapids left). Those filthy fucks :/

 

I just bought rapid premium last week. And at that time it was points to buy. Now it's changed again back to monthly payment system(**). Im lucky I came here and notice it.

Now I have FS HF and RS premium.
And In Japan HF is fastest . and RS is 70% of the HF speed. And FS is 40% of the HF speed. (to download)
FS is littel slower ,,but not too bad.
One thing good about FS is no need downloader or no need to click twice=HS, and RS need to go lower part which never appears at the first click.

And I feel like FS tends to have heavy files with lower quality.
HF has best speed for me but too many deleted files =everyday 100s of files I find deleted... so HF is out of use now.

 

I'm sorry but, Filesonic is absolutely thee worst file-hosting server ever made. Their download speeds are almost (in some cases) the equivalent of the old dial-up days. Never have I seen anything worse than them, yet people keep using it. IMHO, Filesonic should be banned until they figure out how to up their bandwidth. Sometimes I would even be able to download faster as a free user than a premium user. I say fuck 'em.

 

Do you use a download manager like jdownloader?

 

Welcome maguder. But it's a good idea to see how RS is going to "deplete" your old Rapids points, since you joined using their "old" system.

Funny you mention that Undying, cuz in the past month, my Filesonic download speeds are faster than usual for me. As a free user, I've been getting speeds around 150 kb/s (which is good for me). The problem I have with Filesonic is their inconsistency in speeds during the day; while I can usually the 150 kb/s, sometimes it'll dip down to 40-50 kb/s only a few minutes later.

As ahoyhoy suggested, you may want to try using a download manager - that might help a little bit. But yeah, it does kinda suck that few people uploading here at Phun offer any other filehost options other than Filesonic.

 

I use Internet Download Manager. I've even tried disabling IDM and using jdownloader/Flashget, to see if I could find if IDM was the culprit or not, to no avail. It's Filesonic all the way, unfortunately.

 

Strange. Lately I never have any problems with FS anymore, I get a consistent 3.5MB/s download (with jdownloader, in my browser it's usually about 1.2MB/s).

 

How much can a filesonic premium download a day ?

 

Unlimited, like with most hosts nowadays.

 

I haven't been able to download anything in weeks. Keep getting a page that tells me " I can't download from "that" page and I need to go to "this" page. When I click on "this" page link it takes me back to where I started. both FS and HF do it. Had no problems with either of them before.

 

My question, seems that everything posted in sexy videos forum here is on FS, most more than 400MB and FS doesn't allow free users to download above 400. Why nobody is uploading on Hotfile. It is rare, only couple of threads????

 

Hrm, just to clarfiy bitolamkd - Free users can download 400MB or larger files from Filesonic IF the uploader has chosen that option in their account settings. Several Filesonic uploaders are either (A) unaware of this option or (B) chose not to allow free users this option.

As to why no one is using Hotfile, a few months back Hotfile was coming under fire from a supposedly big lawsuit (you can read more about it here) and what Hotfile decided to do was essentially start cleaning house - they deleted ANY questionable materials and suspending accounts en masse. I don't know any specific numbers but I would say about 75% of former Hotfile users (myself included) have gotten their accounts suspended indefinitely and that also stopped any previous Hotfile links from working. Most uploaders aren't going to support a filehost service that will likely keep suspending accounts, so most uploaders have moved on from Hotfile.

Does FileSonic pay well? That seems to be thee preferred choice for uploaders. You might think, it too, may eventually go the way of Hotfile. So many using it, which means a shitload of files for companies to press/threaten charges to.

I wouldn't mind FileSonic if it wasn't for their crappy "premium" dial-up download speeds. It's like their server is bipolar.... one minute it's up and fast then the next minute it's down and slow.

What's wrong with Megaupload or FileServe? I mean people will upload to what they want, which of course, is their right. But at least with those two hosts you actually get what you pay for, which is premium speeds.

IDK, I guess I get tired of having to pay for a crappy file host (FileSonic) knowing I'm getting @ss raped by not getting what I pay for.

 

mokkoriman has already clarified for you but let me add my 2 cents.

Some smart-asses don't chose the option to allow free users to download 400MB or larger files because they wanna force you to buy a premium account and of course the uploader gets revenue of it. There're a lot of outlaw forums on the net where this is like a major rule. If I'm not mistaken there's a forum sponsored by Oron where is almost impossible to find something to be downloaded as free user and it is only Oron, nothing else.

Here at Phun if you have a look at Sexy Video Forum Rules you'll see a note that says:

So if you bump into a thread here at Phun that doesn't offer you an option to download as free user I'd recomend you to click on "Report Post" and explain what is going on to one of the mods/staff. Problem solved.

Btw, I use both hosts on my threads. Hotfile and Filesonic.

 

hi, don't know of this is the right section to post ... can anybody reccommend a reliable and inexpensive premium multi-host downloader, ie a site which with one subscription one can access files on multiple hosts?

asi9, I also prefer Megaupload and Mediafire for free download - particularly the second, though, is not much used.

I appreciate your replying to my question in your first paragraph, even though I am still exactly at my starting point.

 

I did break down and buy a premium account with FileSonic and it's okay, but the d/l speeds are all over the place (50 Kbps to 1.5 Mbps).

Today, it started out good (not great, but good, about 500 kbps), but every d/l started dropping and some fell below 75 kbps.

But as a Registered free user, I find MegaUpLoad to be fine for both uploading and downloading and usually faster than either FileSonice or RapidShare.

I have not uploaded to MediaFire, but like others have said, their d/l speed is awesome for free users.
