It's her who wanted to be a star, then she gets pissed and gives the middle finger because of the attention that comes with it? It comes with the job. She's naive if she didn't realise that it would be inevitable, she has nobody to blame but herself. I have sympathy for her pictures being hacked, of course, but that's not to say she couldn't have taken steps to avoid it. She'd look a lot more dignified without making gestures in the street.

 

She never wanted to be a star! She wanted to be a working actress.

There's an extent to which they overlap. Anybody getting into acting knows that if successful they will be a star, and everybody will want a piece of them, the same for singers. It's the price of the job, and it's the price of those millions. I'm not saying that this justifies the illegal activity of the hackers, no way, but putting your finger up at paparazzi isn't the answer. Every actor should realise that the paparazzi will be there.

I know I have strong feelings on this, and I apologise for that, but they'll take the type of publicity that they want and the money that comes with it, at times they will actively court the media, but then they tire of it and expect to be left alone, but that's not how it works. The public don't lose interest in them, just because they want to pick and choose the times when they want the press to be there. Anybody getting into the film or music industry should realise that you sell your soul to the media, and it's rare for there to be a way back. It may not be fair, but the examples of how the media treated such figures as Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana (even if her case was slightly different) should be enough warning.
