    Just for a point of view, I have read several news stories in the last few weeks of riders in NYC who were killed in bike accidents because of head trauma that could have been avoided with a helmet.

    I was almost curbed myself when I got into a bike accident when I was younger. I was lucky because helmets weren't as regulated back then. But yes, she should be wearing a helmet, ESPECIALLY in NYC.
